Just after lunch, I'm laying on my stomach on my bed and I feel my phone vibrate but nothing pops up for a second. Then a name flashes across my screen for a moment as I get a text.

Zack: guess where my family is going on vacation next week
Me: Unicorn land?
Zack: nah
Me: That's all my guesses 🤷‍♀️

Zack: California 😎
Me: YOURE JOKING

I feel my face break into a huge smile and my cheeks begin to hurt. This can't be real- I might get to see him!!!! I think back to our many conversations in the past almost month since I'd seen him last. We've certainly gotten closer... I still hadn't said "I love you" to him, but after the second time he said it, I somewhat explained why I was unable to say it back.

Zack: and were dragging a couple other loosers with us
Me: oh?
Zack: Oh, and my parents already talked to your parents and they said you wouldn't mind sharing your room with Ash
Me: WITH WHO
Zack: just Ash, it's not a problem, right?
Me: ITS THE MIDDLE OF JULY, THIS IS NO TIME FOR A APRIL FOOLS PRANK ZACK
Zack: No pranks, just a really excited dude waiting to see a certain someone in 5 days
Me: FIVE DAYS??
Zack: hope your guest room is nice
Me: IT IS, I SWEAR
Zack: ok, but it better be stocked with four days worth of stuff
Me: FOUR DAYS!???!?!?
Zack: 😏
Me: DUDE
Zack: 🤨
Me: I CANT WAIT TO SEE YOU GUYSSSS
Me: omg that means I get to see Genevieve! And James, but GENEVIVE! and your mom!
Zack: and my dad 😂
Me: mhm!
Me: I wanna time skip to five days from now 😭 ugh this week is going to be torture
Zack: don't worry, I'll be there soon to make it worse
Me: PFFT
Zack: gotta go now, we're headed to visit my grandparents for dinner
Me: Its 2pm there-
Zack: but it'll take a little while to get there and then we'll visit for a while before we eat
Me: so you can't text while you guys are in the car?
Zack: parents are taking our phones 😕
Me: oop, dang

I take in a deep breath as I stare at the whole conversation on my screen. While talking I gad slowly propped myself up further and was now sitting criss cross on my bed.
I get to see my friends twice in one summer-! My heart feels ready to explode.
I quickly open my messages with Ash to ask them if it's true.

Me: IS IT TRUE??
Ash: did Zack tell you?
Me: YEAH
Ash: I'm so excited!!
Me: Me too!!! I'm gonna clean my room and make sure it's all ready for you to stay here
Ash: oof, is your room a mess too?
Me: not as much a mess as it is just cluttered

I glance around my room to the various piles of old school stuff and random used and unused clothes.

Me: It could probably use a vacuuming though
Ash: oooo neato
Me: kk, imma get to work
Ash: ok!
Me: I love youuuu
Ash: I love you too!!!!

I close my phone and stare around my room. It's kind of a mess- but it's not a gross dirty mess- just- messy. This is going to take a while...

As I walk through the halls at school, I hear my name being called behind me.
"Lana!" The voice calls.
I glance around me, unable to find anyone, but suddenly there's arms around my waist.
"Hey," I giggle, looking up at the one holding me before turning to face them.
"Hey," Zack smiles.
"C'mon, don't wanna be late to class," I laugh.
He reaches his hand out and I take it right away and begin leading him down the hall at a fast pace.
We race through the hall, expertly weaving between other people and after a moment we slow down and I pull him closer tugging on his hand.
We stop outside of a classroom and he grabs at my waist, pulling me in slowly as I place my hands on his face and neck.
"See you after class," I smile.
He tilts his head just slightly to the left, leans in, kisses me softly, and then pulls away.
I stand there and wave as he looks over his shoulder on his way through the door.
I want to go home I whimper, blinking sleep away.
