Reuters, Paris.

A terrorist attack has once again rocked the French capital.

This morning a group of heavily armed terrorists stormed a Parisian museum shortly after it opened, taking approximately twenty-five visitors and eight staff members hostage. A few of the hostages were able to free themselves, but the majority were still in the hands of the terrorists when police entered the building from the roof at approximately 2:30 pm local time, ending the crisis.

All seven of the terrorists were killed, as well as five of the hostages. At the time of going to press, none of the names or nationalities of the terrorists, hostages, or victims, have been released.

One of the hostages who managed to free themselves has not yet been found by police. No information has been released about her but she is not believed to be dead. The police have asked for the woman herself, or anyone with pertinent information concerning her whereabouts, to come forward. It is believed her testimony is vital to further investigation of this brutal and bloody attack.

First reports that an African woman was part of the terrorist group have since been corrected.  It is now believed she played a central role in the freeing of those few hostages who managed to escape, although her exact role and actions during the crisis still remain unclear.

In the brief press conference held by the Paris police, it was made public that that she is now being treated as a key witness, but has also been charged with grievous endangerment and possible manslaughter connected with the deaths of three of the hostages.

Terrorism charges against her, however, have been dropped.
