Life is hard,

Already,

Without this.

Emotional scars run deep,

Deeper then the deepest River,

Or the longest tunnel.

Those scars take over your life,

If your not careful.

But,

If you are careful,

You can overcome them,

Especially with help.

But what if they aren't just emotional.

Physical scars,

Dried,

Red-brown scars,

Ones so large,

And obvious,

They cannot be hid.

It is impossible to even look at another,

Without showing them your face.

They cringe,

Close their eyes,

Try to hide it from you,

But fail.

You can't look in the puddles,

Rivers,

Streams or lakes,

They reflect the image,

The one you hate.

It haunts you,

You dream of it.

It scares you,

yourself.

You wouldn't want to look at it either.

Why burden them?

Every new one that comes,

Avoids you,

Speaks about you behind your back,

Maybe even laugh?

You gave your face for your clan,

Even if you shouldn't have.

But it was out of loyalty,

Even if it was wrong.

But there was no turning back,

You cannot receive a new face,

Reverse the scars,

Turn the shudders into the smiles,

The cringes into laughing,

Happy faces.

It's like no one cares.

They just want to leave you alone.

But one did care,

Loved you,

Didn't even see the scars.

Not once,

Not ever.

He stayed by your side while you were hurt,

Almost dead,

From the terrible wound.

You have wished,

Sometimes,

You had died instead,

So as not to bear this burden.

But,

After looking,

Or thinking,

Of him,

The thought vanishes.

For he loves you,

And you him.
