Jefs POV:

My boots sunk into the thick snow as I walked. Really wish I didn't say I'd go get more wood if we ran out . . . Snow fell from the sky, landing onto me and the ground. It was chilly. I could literally see my breath.

I had decided not to walk across the lake for two reasons.

One, what would happen if the ice broke underneath me and I came crashing down into the ice cold waters? Two, if there was anything out there, I'd be in plain sight, walking across the large, frozen lake . . .

I chose to walk around the lake instead, through the mass of snow covered trees. The sleeve of my hoodie brushed against the bark of a spruce tree. Snow crunched underneath me. I dreaded being outside at this time. A voice then came from the walkie-talkie. "You run into any crazy monsters yet, Jef?" Good asked. "No. Why, you hope I do? Do you hope I get eaten alive?" "Sometimes." "Hey!"

The walkie-talkie then went silent. I was more annoyed than scared now. I just wanted to get this over with, if i'm being honest. Was I that annoying sometimes that he wanted me to be eaten alive? I do sometimes annoy him for fun anyways . . . Whatever, I guess.

That was when my shoe sunk into liquid. I was confused. I looked down, shining my flashlight down too. My right shoe had sunk into a puddle of blood. "What the . . . ," I mumbled to myself. The blood was fresh.

More specks and smaller puddles of blood trailed along in front of it. I gulped. The source of the blood was right in front of me. There lay lifeless on the ground was a deer ripped to shreds. Its head was separated from its body and its right leg was torn off.

The deers whole stomach has been torn open, guts spilling out of it.

One of its antlers was disconnected from its head and laid next to one of the puddles of blood. Tracks of blood trailed away from the animal. Like something had just killed it for the fun of it and walked off . . .

    I spoke into the walkie-talkie with a shaky voice. "Guys . . . ?"
