Story Plots.

I mean we all have to have one in order to get a boost start for a book. Technically for a book to even work out we have to ensure there is a plot for the story- but how does one story plot outshine the rest that are out there?

Simple.

Originality.

Yes - as cliché as it sounds 'being original and having original idea' and the whole lot- (it's important to think these through before any book) is really crucial.

Though it does have its benefits. You see we've all read stories where an innocent small-town girl is mated to the heartless alpha; or the young woman who has magical powers is mated to the King- Whom are arch enemies, but within two chapters they fall in love and have three babies.

I love reading cliché stories, they are about expressing yourself and getting your word out there- if you want to write about things like, hey! Who are we to say you can't.

You write the story that you want to write!

Though if you want your story to be unique and have that spark, there are a few things to think about. For example, let's start with the main focus for today,

The originality of a plot. Having something unique, that gets everyone hooked for each update, is really important and hopefully these tips could help. Let's start with an example:

The overprotective Alpha and his innocent mate.

We've all reads stories like these. Hundreds even, and to be honest these types are my guilty pleasure.

The story usually spins off with a young - astonishingly beautiful girl in a small town going to school. Her best friend turns out to be her Alpha's son allowing them to bend a few rules here and there.

They have an annual ball to celebrate an occasion - and boom! There comes the most heartless man to walk on the face of the earth. He is so heartless that the old and the young fear him - the typical - hide your wives and children from the beast.

This guy at the tender age of Twenty-Three has nearly conquered the world-. He is so extraordinary with a simple growl, everyone's knees shake in terror (or he just has a tickly cough - but that's besides the point.) So this macho ruthless alpha sees the girl, sparks fly, he takes her home and they fight for a while.

She tries to make him jealous because his mind is attended with his long term girlfriend - and in the end. The poor girl is shunned away from her long time relationship - and the Alpha and the Luna live happily to the end of their days.

So, this is one example of a plot that I'm sure we've all read. I mean - it's amazing, but how does this contradict from the other books out there. Does it have that 'spark' everyone looks out for. I personally would say - a book which has a back history gets me more interested than all the sparks and love at first- sight.

Let's take the plot above for example, what ways could you improve. We'll start with the easiest one - talk about daily struggles. Things that may occur to you or others day to day - even if these guys are wolves - they still have problems. Write about things that we can relate to. Make your characters more relatable and your readers will want to find out what happens to them, because they can picture themselves in there right with them!

As the matter of having a unique original plot. Its really important that all the ins and outs are thought through, it's alright to be a pantser but sometimes just writing a basic plot outline can help you out a lot- You don't want to start a story and half way get a writers block.

Everyone loves unpredictable scenarios. The boom that makes you go to the moon. To achieve this, always be unpredictable. In case of the plot idea above - to make that unique you could have it as the Alpha wanting his mate only for the purpose of survival, so if he doesn't mate her something might happen to him. Any other ideas on how you would change up this scenario? Let us know in the comments!

A second scenario, that I see is a huge loophole in books is the sudden change in characters, simply put, there is no character development.

The sudden spin off the characters personality.

I for one, love when the Alpha is all lovey dovey and the shy Luna now turns in to this extraordinary fighter within three chapters. Though you have to be honest, taking the time for character development is extremely crucial and plays a vital role with having an original plot and an idea.

I'm all for empowerment. Both genders, but when it comes to a story - having a very shy timid character all of a sudden becoming this Ninja Warrior is very sudden. Of course you can have awesomely talented characters but let them develop slowly. Think of it as nurturing. The more exposure you give them, the more they are to learn. Let your readers take the journey with them! This is what lets people fall in love with characters and relate to them.

Finally,

The original idea for a plot.

We all want an original plot. An original idea can sometimes be hard, so what secrets are there  to having an amazing extraordinary plot, that will make everyone stay on the edge of their seats?

Simple. You.

Write about things no one has ever wrote about. We've heard of wolves, warlocks, witches - now add a spin to it. Add a shape shifter. Add a vampire ( the nemesis of the were-world- or are they?). Make it tragic, the type that pulls at your heart string yet at the same time add a little romance because come on - we all need some love in our lives.

To be original and have the perfect plot. Put yourself in their shoes - no I'm not quoting Eminem! But seriously. It's not as hard as you'd think. It's simple. You can do it.

Think of that one idea you've hid away for years - that you're not quite ready to put pen to paper, fingers to keyboard- and have the courage to make your story unique, to make your story shine, pour your heart in to it, make it you.

So you must be wondering - what's the conclusion? Well the conclusion is allowing your wildest imagination come to life. Stories are about making the impossible become possible.

Now it's up to you- Don't forget to apply to have your new story to one of our reading lists!
