It took a while before the lightning and thunder came.

He had heard the sailors beforehand muttering about storms and it was quite a surprise it hit today considering that they had predicted it would be tomorrow. I guess the weather hadn't been in their favor.

Darius thought of approaching his crew to order them to control the sails. The ship could only take so much damage. He would rather not risk it. Plus, his crew's safety was his priority.

He was about to walk towards them but then the sea had other plans. Then came the second crash. This one much more powerful than the last that it shook the ship violently.

Darius stumbled, his legs almost giving up at the moment. His eyes widened as one of his crew almost went overboard from the impact.

His hands had grabbed one of the ropes, hoisting himself back up to balance. He looked at the sky. He was still thankful that jt was a storm rather than a sea creature.

But the risk of having a shipwreck also didn't calm him down. So, his dread never left. It was better to be safe than sorry anyway.

"We're gonna be alright," Aloysius said in a reassuring tone, patting his captain on the back.

The captain had been so adamant about going out on deck when they first set out. He hadn't been wrong once though and he wouldn't be now. "We can handle the waves."

The ship lurched forward again as if in retaliation, causing both of the sailors in question to fall into each other in an attempt to steady themselves once more. Darius knew if this keeps up, they wouldn't even be able to reach land.

The stormy trek seems to be continuous and it wasn't stopping soon so Darius rushed to his crew to assist them in controlling the sails and even ordered Aloysius to help them along.

He, on the other hand, had to make sure that Calista was aware of the situation.

His lover was still probably inside so it was better she knew and be prepared for worst case scenarios. After all, he already taught his crew, it would be best to teach her basic survival tips on the ship as well when it comes to these situations.

The storm continued on for hours, the huge bilt of lightning crashing down to the sea and eventually dying down. However, a growl in a distance came along with it. Only then did Darius came back with his lover.

But he still heard the sudden sound.

The rest of the crew were still trying to get their bearings before moving towards him in confusion.

Their eyebrows were furrowed, hands fidgeting, and their gazes looking back and forth to the sea and their captain.

They weren't sure what exactly had happened or whether they wanted to know what made the sound.

He didn't feel like explaining anything to anyone at that moment also, especially not his own people. When all panic, the ship may as well be doomed.

"Captain!" One of the sailors shouted, waving his arms frantically. "We heard an animalistic sound right after the storm had passed. Could it be?"

Darius couldn't tell for certain how close they were to land, especially when his crew started to get nervous of what had hit them. Yet, he reassured them that it was just a storm.

"I'm sure it wasn't it." Even his words now looked like he was convincing himsel and not his crew

Darius looked up at the stormy sky again and swore under his breath, "I guess it's not stopping anytime soon." He muttered under his breath, looking over the horizon once more.

There was no visible indication as to when the rain would finally cease to fall, but everyone was pretty sure by now that they would just have to arrive to land, soaked. Still, they all remained standing where they were regardless.

After a few moments, they finally see a small island up ahead. Not much trees but it was better than not finding land at all.

Even the crew's eyes seem to hold excitement as they knew they can finally set camp and explore. Maybe take shelter even if the storm would come back to bite their tails. Darius' gaze were far from staring down at his crew.

Darius, sadly, had no desire to watch the rest of the crew head off, eager to find shelter and some fresh supplies before returning to their previous tasks.

Instead, he began walking towards where they landed, hoping to catch a glimpse of the sun peeking through the clouds.

After another minute or two, they finally reached the island. Most of the crew had left the ship with no hesitation.

The crew had ran and and finally sat down on the sand. Darius and Aloysius threw glances at each other and nodded. Aloysius had went first as Darius came back to call his lover.

Aloysius, after investigating a bit on the area, heard the sounds of someone approaching from behind him.

When he turned around he saw Darius coming towards him with a smile on his face and Calista next to him. Aloy was taken aback momentarily until he realised who he was speaking to.

"How's the weather?" Calista asked, a small smile appearing on his face.

Darius gave him a quick glance, "A bit calmer than earlier." He replied, taking a seat next to Aloysius. "I'm just glad we made it here safely."

"Me too." Aloysius replied, leaning against Darius. "I thought we'd be stuck in the damn ship."

Darius chuckled lightly. "Well, luckily we aren't."

After a few hours, the three of them looked around, seeing that the crew had already started searching for firewood.

I guess the crew had the idea of cooking a meal before they went exploring deeper in the island.

Aloysius walked towards a tree and mentioned the lovers to follow. "I think it would be better if we started searching as well. That voyage made me a bit hungry myself."

Both of them agreed. The three then decided to collect fallen branches as it would light faster.

Most trees in the island had damp wood so they knew that they would have trouble lighting it up if they decided to go chop trees for wood.

Darius, looking at the two who were still collecting wood, only sighed. Atleast they're safe and oblivious to the dangers in the sea.

Maybe the sound he heard earlier would just be the topic for another day as he didn't want his crew to worry.
