Freedom. It's a word that evokes the best in us, but
Remember that it wasn't handed to us on a silver plater;
Every nation, race and cultural identity that
Ever fought, suffered and died for the cause of freedom
Did so in the hope of attaining it not for themselves,
Or even for their children, but for all posterity,
Making every effort to attain it. Freedom?

It is not a question of duty or patriotism, as
Some would have us believe; it's more than that. It's human

Nature to desire freedom, to seek it to the furthest
End of planet Earth, to reach for it to the
Very edge of death itself and beyond,
Enduring all Hell to get it. And once you have it,
Remember that you'll have to fight to keep it.

Freedom is a prize to be earned, to be taken at will.
Rise up, everyone, and stand by her side;
Even when you cannot stand for yourselves,
Even when you cannot stand for much longer—take a stand!

Freedom is never free.

A/N: This day, September 11, 2011, the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, I felt it my duty to include in this collection a quote that sums up the strength Americans found during the darkest moment of our history. As it was said then as it is said now, may it be said for all time. Freedom is never free.
