It was some months since Avni had been accepted back into the home by Shweta, Neil's mom. Bebe and Prakash had always been supportive, but Shweta had at last been resigned to her son's choice. She was not extremely loving towards Avni, as she still considered her an outsider! But at least she did not exhibit any open animosity!

With time, Neil had gotten more and more busy with his job. He had spent a lot of energy building up solid cases against Dayawanti Mehta, Avni's grand mother who had tried to once kill her, and who was now jailed for other offences. Neil wanted to ensure she never escapes jail. Amol, Avni's long lost brother whom Dayawanti had influenced evilly was now discharged from the jail. Neil wanted to keep him in his radar as well, but had given up at Avni's insistence. Avni wanted nothing to do with Aman now, or Amol rather as what Dayawanti had made her brother to be.

Neil and Avni were leading a peaceful existence. Their love life had continued and become more and more stronger with each passing day. There are no fairy tales but they were both mature and kind human beings and therefore treated each other with love and respect.

Neil was happy as he was working. He had received promotion today! From ACP he had become a DCP! (Deputy Commissioner of Police)

Neil was sitting in his office late as usual, when suddenly his alarm rang. He smiled after picking up the clock to switch off the alarm. He called DD in his cabin. DD, his ever loyal constable, came in and saluted his favorite idol!

DD - "Sir yes sir!"

Neil - "DD! Ye alarm kaise baja?" (how did this alarm ring?)

DD (scratching his head) - "Sir from the alarm clock"

Neil - "DD, do I look stupid to you?"

DD (swallowing his saliva) - "Sir no sir"

Neil - "Then tell me. Who put this alarm at 9 pm in my office cabin!"

DD - "Sir.. wo Avni bhabhi.. she wanted you to come home early today. She was missing you, so I thought.. I mean.." (Sir, Avni madam..)

Neil smiled - "Acchha.. so you are working for my wife now. Are you her informer DD!" (OH. k..)

DD , visibly disturbed - "Sir ... my loyalty is first and foremost to you. But when it comes to Avni bhabhi..I believe being loyal to her is being loyal to you sir!"

Neil - "DD! Get your priorities right! I am your boss, not my wife. Am I clear!"

DD, looking very serious and devoted - "Sir yes sir"

Neil - "Then you will not report my actions to my wife, correct?"

DD - "Of course not sir"

Neil - "Good.. very good. I am leaving for home now. Alarm baj hi gaya hai ghar jaane ka to let me not lose this opportunity!" (..since alarm to go home has rung.."

Saying this Neil closed the official files he had been poring over, and left for home. DD saluted him again as he left. As soon as Neil left the room, DD dialed Avni.

DD - "Hello bhabhi!"

Avni, smiling - "Bolo DD" (tell)

DD - "Sir has left office to meet you! He he he! I put an alarm to remind him"

Avni smiled but said nothing.

DD - "BUt pls dont tell Neil sir. He has asked me not to inform you on my actions!"

Avni - "Oh.. Has he done that now!! Anyways you know what to do DD!"

DD, grinning - "Yes bhabhi. i am loyal to you!"

Avni smiled and kept the phone. And then changed her dress waiting for Neil to come home. After long no one was at home, everyone had gone off to some marriage function. She had a slight headache so she had opted out!

As Avni changed into a knee-length skirt and off-shoulder top, she heard Neil's car stop outside! She ran to the balcony to check. He had come back indeed and was walking swiftly inside.

Avni thought she will surprise him of her new look. Last few days she had not worn any western clothes in front of him. 

Avni went downstairs before Neil entered the house and hid in the kitchen. She saw Neil come in and directly go upstairs to their room. 

As Neil entered the room, he smiled after taking in his wife's fragrance. But when he stepped inside the room was empty! 

Neil came outside - "Avni.. AVNI! Kahan ho?"( where are you)

He realized his dad was talking at breakfast about a wedding. He thought maybe Avni had gone there as well and got disappointed. He was really looking forward to seeing his wifey!

Neil tried Avni's cell and heard it ringing. It was kept on the bed! It seems she had forgotten her phone as she left! He went downstairs looking for her and suddenly the lights went off. Neil sighed in frustation.. he was tired and not in a mood to play the electrician! He could not see any servants around as well, as if they had been given the day off!

Neil saw some light coming from the kitchen area. As he entered it he smiled. A table was laid out right beside the kitchen area. It had a candle on it with some flowers. A couple of plates and wine glasses were laid out.

Neil - "Sweetheart, I know you are here. Aa jao na!" (come!)

Suddenly his eyes were closed by two gentle soft hands from behind! Neil kept his hands on those two hands and held them tighter..he took a deep content breath and felt very warm. Avni was hugging him from the back!
