Avni woke up late the next morning, and saw that Neil was already up. It seems he never missed his morning exercise. Avni remembered his well-chiseled chest from their rainy day encounter and went red in the face. Neil was really well-built!

She got ready and out of lack of choice wore the one sari that Neil had brought for her, which possibly belonged to Kareena or to his mom. Luckily the blouse fit her well but the neck was a bit loose for her. She took a safety pin and tried to tie it from the back, to adjust the neck of the blouse but she was unable to do it by herself.

"Kuch help chahiye to bolo?" , (do u need any help?)
Neil spoke as he had crept back in the room quietly post his jog, thinking that she would be still asleep.

Surprised she turned to look at him and pricked herself with the pin. Avni did not utter a sound, but her expressions communicated what had happened to Neil.

He walked to her - "Let me check..", and then continued talking "..waise kaafi clumsy ho tum.."(You're quite clumsy)

Avni grew somewhat angry at this - "Main clumsy? Tum hi billi ki tarah paanv daba ke ghuse the room mein.. meri galti kaise ho gayi isme"(I'm clumsy? You entering the room with padded legs like a cat. How's it my mistake)

Neil chuckled and said - "haan sahi baat hai.. pin tumhare haath mein tha.. tumne khud ko chubhaaya.. but meri hi galti hai. Very fair!" (Yes true. Pin was in your hand. You pricked yourself. But it's my mistake)

Avni got further irritated at this but kept quiet and fumed silently. Suddenly she shivered. While checked where the pin had pierced her back, Neil had put his hand on her bare back. Neil felt her tremble a little and looked up surprised. Her eyes were cast down, but he understood she was uncomfortable. He removed his hand and said - "Sab thik hai.. Lao pin main tight kar deta hoon top.." (All is well. Give me the pin I'll put it)

Avni - "tumko aata hai kya?"(Do u Know)

Neil - "Maine embroidery to nahi seekhi. But haan sari mein pin to koi bhi laga lega, isme kya hai", (I've not learnt embroidery. But this can be done by anyone)
he then grinned showing his set of perfect teeth in overconfidence. And then the pin pricked Avni again!

This time she shouted - "aaah! NEIL!"

Neil started fumbling - "Shit! sorry, sorry wifey!". And started paying attention to what he was doing. He finally finished putting the pin correctly.

Then he looked up in the mirror to see Avni staring at him without blinking her eyes.

NEil - "Ab kya hua..?"(What happened now)

Avni - "Wifey?!.."

Neil gave an evil smile again - "Ab lawfully wedded wife ko main kuch bhi bol sakta hoon. Chalo I am really hungry!"(I can call my lawfully wedded wife  anything. Come)

Bebe looked in the room right then. She had come to take Avni to the breakfast table on her first day in the house. Avni was really touched by that. Neil excused himself saying he will take a shower and join them.

Avni sat beside Bebe on the table and Shweta gave some instructions to the maid as she served the food to everyone, and took the plate from the maid. The menu for the day had stuffed paranthe with pickles. Shweta walked with the plate of food around and served it to everyone. Avni did not notice much but Shweta served her a burnt parantha from one side.

Avni smiled along with everyone and tasted her breakfast but immediately found it hard to swallow. Shweta looked at her triumphantly. Shweta was a small-minded woman, she found extreme pleasure in such silly gimmicks. Avni decided to quietly eat whatever was in her plate and not to create a fuss! This sort of defeated Shweta's purpose who wanted to confront Avni, but then she was satisfied that atleast Avni will eat bad food.

Neil walked in and sat beside Avni. Shweta served him a lot of food with her mother's love. Neil took a bite and then said - "Waaaah! Aaj ke khaane mein kuch zyada hi swaad hai, hai na dad!"( Wow. Today the food is too tasty. Isn't it dad)

He then looked at Avni's plate and saw a sad-looking burnt parantha there. He guessed what would have happened! Neil's good mood vanished but he did not show it. No one could have noticed the subtle change when his jawline became tighter. After one or two bites, as everyone ate their food, he quietly shifted his plate to Avni's side and took her plate.

Shweta immediately noticed it - "Arre Neil, ye kya? Uska khaana kyun le rahe ho?"( Neil what's this. Why are u eating her food?)

Neil - "Khaana to khaana hota hai mom. Sabke liye same hi bana hai"( food Is food mom. Same for all)

And then he continued eating the burnt parantha with the same enjoyable expression on his face. Avni had not stopped looking at Neil all this while. She felt warm from the inside. This guy was doing so much for her. She felt safe when Neil was by her side in Shweta's presence.

Neil quickly wrapped up the breakfast and then got up asking Avni to come with him. He told everyone he had to drop her at her home so that she can pick up her clothes and other stuff.

Avni thanked Neil as soon as they left the room - "Neil.. thanks! tumne mere liye wo parantha.."(You had that food for me..)

NEil - "Why thanking me wifey! I know how much you love your food, tabhi to itni clumsy ho!..", and then grinned evilly. (That's why you're so clumsy)

Avni started getting worked up again - "Neil.. kya tumne mujhe fat bola.."(Did u call me fat)

Neil looked innocently with wide eyes and said - "Maine kab bola ye?"(When did I say that)

Bickering like this they left the house and Neil took his car out.

NEil (while reversing the car out of the gate) - "Avni, I will drop and pick you up at night. Main aaj office join kar raha hoon.."(I'm going to join office today)

It was Avni's turn to smile now - "Aaj, wow Neil. You work on Sundays as well?"

Neil looked at her disoriented. In the entire ruckus , he had not realised what date it was. He sighed and continued driving.

Soon Avni's house came and she got down. Neil too started coming out but she said - "Neil.. tum rehene do, I mean.. mujhe iske baad koi kaam hai"( Neil you leave it. I mean I have some other work after this)

Neil asked what work was there but Avni did not seem to want to discuss it. He left it there and said - "Thik hai. nahi batana to mat batao. Lekin agar bahar ja rahi ho kahin to let me take you there. Waise bhi main free hoon. Ab shaadi ke baad ghar akela jaunga wapas, to questions poochenge ghar wale. I am sure you do not want that.."(OK. Don't tell me if you don't want to. But if you are going out let me take u there. If I leave for home alone after marriage then family members will ask questions.)

Avni - "Negotiation tactics to koi tumse seekhe Mr Neil Khanna. Chalo thik hai, aa jao. But just do not ask me many questions when I cannot tell you.."(Anyone should learn negotiation tactics from u Neil. Ok. Come.)

Neil nodded and followed her into her house merrily. He was liking this new job of driving his wife around!
