Zain slowly entered the room in which Aditi was sleeping and a tube was connected to her hand suppling blood to her weak body. Her body looked so weak and frail after the unexpected incident. He gulped back tears trying hard not to let them flow.
He sat beside her and took her free hand in his, "Sorry meri jaan. I am so sorry. Mujhe kabhi tumhe akela chodna hi nahi chahiye tha."
After a few minutes Aditi regained consciousness. She slowly opened her eyes adjusting the vision. Within seconds she was aware that she was in a hospital and sharp pain was stinging in her forehead and stomach. She could feel the fatigue in her bones.
Zain instantly called the doctor to check her and the latter informed that she would be discharged by the next morning. As soon as the doctor left Aditi hugged Zain and half of her energy flowed back in. But then she felt his body shaking so pulled him out of the hug and cupped his face.
"Aditi I need to tell you something." He spoke in a low voice.
"Sabse pehle zain tell me. Humari princess theek hai na?" She asked her voice full of hope.
He looked away as tears started brimming his eyes.
"Theek hai na?" He didn't say a word. The silence was eating her.
"Meri taraf dekho zain" and as soon as she turned his face towards her things changed.
She was looking right into his eyes and she could see how broken he was. She had never seen this ocean deep sadness in his beautiful eyes. Aditi's heart sank and she froze at the very spot as reality dawned on her.
