Lizzy's POV

I woke up with a groan, sitting up on my bed. I glanced over at the clock and sighed. "Today's a school day, huh?" I said to myself. I wasn't a big fan of school but it was good to meet up with my friends. Wait....my friends........oh no!!! I hurriedly got out of bed and changed into my school uniform. I had completely forgotten that I was walking to school early with my best pals Melody and William. Apparently, Melody had something important to do at school and she wanted William and I to keep her company. So we all decided to go to school early together. But I had to get moving so that I wouldn't be late!! I got myself ready in a few minutes and ran down the staircase in my house. When I ran to the kitchen, I saw my two older brothers Jarod and James eating breakfast.

"Good morning, Liz!" Jarod exclaimed with a smile. "You're up really early today."

"Only by 30 minutes!" I said precisely.

"And your point is?"

"I gotta meet up with Will and Mel early today! It's really important!"

"Oh okay," James said. "Go on and eat breakfast so that you can get going." I nodded with glee and made some cereal for myself. My two brothers were taking it easy because they were in college and had a different school schedule than me. They were really lucky to go to school later than me, but it's college life I guess. I ate my bowl of cereal quickly and ran to the front door, where my backpack was waiting for me.

"Hey, you forgot to put your bowl in the sink!!" Jarod yelled. I already had my shoes on but I ran back to the kitchen and did what I was told.

"See you guys later tonight!" I exclaimed as I ran back to the front door. I opened the door and ran outside with my backpack in hand.

Melody's POV

I patiently waited for my best friend Lizzy to show up at the stop sign, where Will, Lizzy, and I usually meet up so that we can go to school together. William was already here but he was pacing back and forth. I sighed softly and said, "Will, you don't need to pace. She'll be here soon!"

"Yeah, but you said that this was important," he said, rubbing his light brown hair. "She should've been here by now!"

"Oh come on, Will. Give her a break."

"I'm heeeeeeere!!!" a voice shouted from a distance. William and I looked to where that voice came from and we saw our buddy running to us. The first thing I noticed right away was her collar was a bit crooked. As soon as Lizzy caught up to us, I fixed her collar immediately.

"Did you just wake up?" I asked out of curiosity.

"Uh....maybe," Lizzy said sheepishly. "How did you know?"

"Because you would've paid more attention to your clothes," I began, "and your bed hair is showing."

"Yeah, I see your bed hair too," William agreed.

"Aw, come on!" Lizzy exclaimed, trying to fix it. "I tried to look presentable." I giggled and helped her out, beginning to walk to the school.

"Well,it isn't enough!" I declared. "How else are you gonna look in front of boys?"

"Uh, Mel? You know I don't care about that, right?"

"But you should!! What would happen if a cute guy walks up to you and starts flirting?"

"I punch him in the face!!" William and I facepalmed. Lizzy was one of my childhood best friends but she was a bit interesting to say the least. She was very tomboyish, prone to hit guys if they ever do anything perverted, but very loyal and kind to her friends. She was one of the most friendliest people I know. But I was too shy when it came to talking to people and today was the worst day to be shy!

"So what's this important thing you have to do, Mel?" William asked.

"W-Well, there's some new students coming to the school," I explained. "I have to show them around."

"Ohhhh!" William and Lizzy exclaimed. "Cool!"

"No, it's not!" I protested. "You know how shy I get around people!"

"Have no worries, buddy!" Lizzy grinned, patting my back. "You'll do just fine."

"Yeah right," I sighed.

"How many students are coming?" William asked.

"Only two."

"Oh, that's easy!! You'll do great!"

"No, I won't!! I'm gonna fail this." Despite my friend's good encouragement, I was still not in good spirits. I hoped everything would be okay.
