BAGATELLE NUMBER TWENTY-FIVE in A minor, commonly known as "Für Elise", translated to "For Elise" in English, was possibly Ludwig van Beethoven's most prominent compositions, originally published forty years after the guy's death. It took four decades for someone to finally discover it in 1867.

The "Elise" named in the title has, to this day, not been identified, but researchers have reason to believe it could be one of three women in Beethoven's life: Therese Malfatti, Elisabeth Röckel, or Elise Barensfled, leaving "Für Elise", a mystery of love.

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, founded in 990 AD, by the four greatest witches and wizards of the age, Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin, has held a decennial Masquerade ball since the four founders established the school. Accompanied by elegant decorations, lavish refreshments, and a self-playing piano throughout the night, the ball is highly anticipated by anyone with the chance of attending during their seven years at Hogwarts. For one enchanting night, they can be whoever they want; concealed behind a mask.

Marina Lumley was living her life to the fullest. She felt as though Hufflepuff had high chances of winning the Quidditch Interhouse cup this year with her as captain, despite Gryffindor becoming increasingly better; the previous year she had excelled her O.W.Ls with flying colours; her best friend, Anthony, would be returning to school after a year away in Denmark after his father acquired a job over there; and she would actually get the chance to experience the decennial Hogwarts masquerade ball that year, unlike most students that come and go, without the opportunity.

Ron Weasley felt as content with his life, as Marina did with her's. Living life on the edge to the best of his ability; buoyant and adventurous, with a few minor hiccups in the way - but who cares about the rise of Lord Voldemort anyway when you are the new acclaimed Keeper for the Gryffindor Quidditch team? Ron was at the top of his game at Quidditch going into his sixth year; was even doing quite well in the girlfriend department ─ Lavender Brown was sure a little clingy, but that was outweighed by the thought that he was in a legitimate relationship: and he was finally not letting the label of the "best friend" of the chosen one get to him.

Not only did Marina and Ron despise each other on the Quidditch pitch, their competitive drive taking over them, but off the pitch, was a different story. Everyone could see it. The bitterness they felt for the other practically radiated off the other. And yet, this radiation of loathing and distaste must have evaporated that one night. The one night that they had danced to Beethoven, laughed till their stomachs hurt and dined together unlike the strangers they truly were, neither one of them managing to identify the other. They had each fabricated a persona, one that covered up who they truly were. A truth both of them wanted to uncover.

─ i imagine that their fued sort of started because marina started quidditch in her third year, and ron therefore automatically didn't like any of the members of harry's opponents and when he then started quidditch, it sort of just became two-sided because marina hated how arrogant he became

─ marina always disliked how she didn't really have the popularity that some students had, so one of the reasons she is so excited for the ball is because she sees it as an opportunity to be someone she's not. she basically creates this whole new personality during the ball

─ ron and marina do not exchange names at the ball, hence the whole rest of the plot lmao

─ ron hates the idea of a ball. he has the same attitude towards the yule ball as he does for this masquerade one. so he, therefore, decides to tell everyone he talks to something different about himself for fun (inspo is obvs from gina from that one episode of b99 when she tells different people different made up jobs that she has)
