Time for bed

It had been a very long battle for the 501st, it had lasted for 2 days with no stop, not even at night, everyone was exhausted and they had barely managed to stop themselves snapping at each other.
Dogma and Tup were clearing up the last of the debris looking ready to collapse.
Denal and most of the others were throwing droid parts onto a pile.
Vaughn and Echo were leaning against a slope Vaughn was attempting to get to sleep and Echo and Sterling were looking out for droids.
Fives had nodded off on the ground at least 5 minutes ago and was at least getting some sleep before the day truly began.
Hardcase was still awake somewhat, but even his normal perky self was hidden behind a slumped body.
Right now the word "bed" was the most important word to all of them.

"Looks like the last of it." Rex said.
Anakin looked up at the rising sun and yawned.
"Alright boys let's head home." Anakin said.
Rex nodded and slung Fives up onto his shoulders.
"I cannot believe I'm about to say this but I cannot wait to sleep for a few hours." Hardcase said.

"Echo, we're leaving." Dogma said.
Echo nodded and kicked Vaughn's foot.
"I'm awake, I'm awake, are we done?" Vaughn asked.
"I know exactly how you feel Vaughn." Sterling said.

Rex took the rear and accidently woke up Fives.
"H-Huh, what's going on." Fives murmured.
"We're going to bed Fives." Rex reassured him.
"Bed...I love bed." Fives murmured before falling asleep again.

Ashoka was waiting by the doors as her master and the others arrived, she'd at least got some sleep that night which was something she knew envied the others.
She'd already carried Cobalt to his bed after he'd fallen asleep at the command center console.

"Hi snips, sleep okay." Anakin murmured as he walked over.
"Let's just worry about you getting some sleep skyguy." Ashoka said smirking a little.
"You might need some help with Fives, I don't think he's letting go on his own and he's getting drool all over my pauldron." Rex said.
Ashoka crossed her arms then turned when someone else moved toward Rex.
"I've got him Commander." Kix said.
"Thank you Kix." Ashoka said grinning.

Kix grinned back and took Fives from Rex.
"Come on Fives." Kix said.
"Kix, when did you get here." Fives mumbled.
"The life of a medic doesn't guarantee naps." Kix said shaking his head a little.

Ashoka waved to the others and dissapered down a corridor.
Rex and the others started to move and the snores coming from Hardcase and Vaughn told him they had fallen asleep right there in chairs.
Rex rolled his eyes a little and threw a couple of blankets over them.

"Alright boys let's get some shut eye." Rex said.
"Good plan, I'm about to fall asleep right here on my hands." Echo said.

"I'll maintain watch in case anything happens." Dogma said.
"No, I have not forgotten what you were like last time you didn't get enough sleep, a cranky Dogma is worse than a normal Dogma, trust me." Rex said.
Dogma crossed his arms but no longer protested with his Captian.
"Good, now that we've reached that agreement, besides Bats can cover the watch for a few hours." Rex said.

The group arrived in the barracks and Bats came over.
"You're back." Bats cheered in a manner that was far to cheery for their tastes, maybe he'd gotten some sleep while they were out...lucky.
"Yup, and now we're going to crash for a few hours, let us know if anything happens." Rex said.
Bats saluted and started looking around.
"Where're Hardcase and Vaughn?" Bats asked.

"Fell asleep in the hangar, decided not to bother them, goodnight Bats." Rex said.
"Wouldn't it be good morning technically, I mean-." Bats joked.
"Goodnight Bats, I don't have the patience to ponder things right now." Rex responded his eyes narrowing.
The droid giggled nervously and waved as the others retreated to the beds.

Rex watched the others their beds and watched Dogma until he entered his.
The clone might try and ignore the order if he didn't stay awake to make sure.
Dogma gave into his fate and climbed into his bed and Rex waited until he was sure he was asleep until he climbed into his bed.

They may only rest for a few hours but that was enough for them.
Hopefully no one did anything crazy while they were asleep.

But one had to remember...that this was war.
