Maya is a sweet natured girl with a good sense of humour. She's rather awkward, shy and quirky, but when she finds people who understand her, she opens up and is a lot more confidence. She is very morally grounded, so it takes a lot for her to stray from these morals. She is very family orientated, and values her friendships more than she values herself. She is always there for others, and puts others before herself all the time. Maya is very intelligent and street smart, having lived in Moorside her whole life.

BACKGROUND
Born in Moorside to a young couple, Maya was put up for adoption at the age of 5. She formed close bonds with her surrogate family, missing them immensely when she was placed in the custody of her maternal Uncle at the age of 9. Her Uncle was not as religious as her parents, but Maya believed her religion was something she wanted to hold on to, so he supported her. She was raised by her Uncle and his best friends. She often felt conflicted between her religion and things her peers were doing, such as drinking. After being partnered with a girl for a History project, Maya learned more about the LGBTQIA+ community. She developed a crush on the girl, but was fearful of how her Uncle would react. The girl had spoken about some bullying she used to face, which further cemented Maya's silence. She distanced herself from the girl, losing a friendship in the process. She joined the Robotics club quite early on, and was surprised to hear about the robot girl they were in the process of making.
