13 years ago today, a little fish named Fabio... or was it Elmo? Wait, Nemo! Yes, 13 years ago today Nemo swam into theaters. In honor of that, I will post 13 facts about Finding Nemo. (If you didn't get the reference in the first sentence of this chapter... rewatch the movie :) )

1. The movie's art team went through marine life training prior to production.

2. The CEO of Disney thought Finding Nemo would be a failure.

3.  The character of Bruce is named for the nickname Steven Spielberg gave to one of the shark models in Jaws.

4. Squirt the sea turtle is voiced by Nicholas Bird, the son of Pixar director Brad Bird.

5. There are roughly 200 turtles in the background of the turtle drive sequence.

6.  Director Andrew Stanton voiced Crush, the sea turtle. He did it for the film's rough cut, but never intended to do the final version.

7. Work on Finding Nemo began in 1997.

8. Finding Nemo was the first Pixar movie to take place outside the U.S.

9. The turtle kids' shells are meant to look like Hawaiian shirts.
