Kanan's P.O.V

Hera looked at me and started to speak.

   "I..."

Suddenly an explosion came from the distance and shook the ground. Once the shaking stopped, I looked over at Hera to see that she was ok.

"Is every one alright?" I asked but no one spoke and stared at something in the sky. I turned around to see planes fly over the tall buildings. One of them opened its cargo bay doors and something fell out.

The strange object blew up taking down some buildings like dominos. The city's sirens went off meaning to tell people to evacuate.

"To the cars!" I yelled and everyone ran through the park to get to our vehicles. A plane came over the park and released a bomb. I got a glimpse of the symbol on the plane. Imperials.

Then we all took cover ducking behind the car expect Mr. Sumar didn't make it in time. It was to late, the bomb went off sending everything and everyone that was close enough to fly.

The car windows broke sending glass flying. I used my hands to cover the back of my head. I looked up to see Hera, Ahsoka, Copper, Joe and I were safe but Mr. Sumar was a different question. I stood up once knowing that it was safe enough to do so.

"Mr. Sumar!" I called out and walked around still trying to find him. The other three joined in to search for the old man.

"Over here!" Ahsoka's voice echoed through the debris. We ran over to find Ahsoka kneeling down next to a puddle of blood. That's when I saw Mr. Sumar half way under a pile of debris while the other half was sticking out with all sorts of gashes and cuts. He opened his eyes a little and seemed to barely being able to hold on to his life.

Hera and Ahsoka were crying. I just felt my heart clench with frustration and sadness. Why? Why would the Empire attack the city?

Hera walked over to me and cried into my shoulder and I held onto her not wanting to let go. We all knew that he wasn't going to make it.

"What?" I heard Ahsoka say and leaned down farther to hear what Mr. Sumar was trying to say.

The old man told Ahsoka then the young woman looked at me and Hera.

   "Hera," Ahsoka said.

Hers turned her head with tears traveling down her face.

"Mr. Sumar wants you to finish what you were about to say and be quick," Ahsoka warned.

Hera turned to face me and said, "I do."

"Mr. Sumar pronounces you husband and wife," Ahsoka said what Mr. Sumar told her.

"You may kiss the bride," she added.

Hera and I didn't hesitate to quickly kiss before a sudden shake of the ground stopped us.

"You got to go," Mr. Sumar said loud enough so that we all could hear him.

"We're not leaving you," I protested.

"If you stay, then you'll die and I'm already dying as is so it will be pointless to stay. It would be awful to start a new chapter in your life then throw it all away for nothing," the old man argued.

I sighed cause I knew he was right. It would be pointless if we stayed and just die.

"Thank you for everything," Hera told Mr. Sumar.

"The pleasure was mine," he said smiling one last time.

"Come on, no time to waste," Joe said as we ran over to the two cars. I hoped in the driver's seat of the first vehicle and started the engine. Hera got into the passenger's seat while Copper hopped in the back seat. Ashoka and old Joe were in the second car behind us.

We drove off as fast as we could when I suddenly something through my side mirror. A gigantic creature stood as high as the tallest building in the city and destroying everything in its path.

"What the heck is that thing?" Hera said quietly in fear as she looked out the window. Copper saw it too and I thought his face turned as white as a sheet of paper.

"I don't know and I'm not sticking around to find out," I has putting the car on its highest speed. Ahsoka was driving next to me and I could tell that her and Joe saw the creature too.

"We need to get out of the city," Hera told me.

"Great minds, think alike," I said then went to the nearest exit of the city followed by Ahsoka.

Once I turned the corner revealing the city's exit, was blocked by imperials. I was mad.

   I gritted my teeth.

They took my mother and hurt the ones I love.

They made me travel through that horrible forest.

They destroyed my wedding and the city.

Mad would be an understatement now that I think about. After hitting the gas pedal all the way, I knew that I wasn't mad no, I was down right outraged.

   Crash.

Everything was in slow motion. There was a ringing in my ears and screaming coming from all around me. Then I blacked out thinking that I just messed up big time.

That's until I heard a beeping the next time I woke up. I groaned as the light entered my eyes then looked around when I got used to it.

Immediately, I recognized that I'm in a hospital. That's I remembered the stupidest mistake I ever made in my life.

My eyes widen and I sit up suddenly in pain. I held my arm and did my best to get out of the bed. Then a person come into the room. I look up to see Hera in a nurse's outfit with a shocked look on her face. We just stared at each other for a moment before Hera came running over and embracing me.

"Ow," I muttered under my breath but hugged back.

She let go and hit me hard over the head.

"That was the most reckless and irrational thing you did, Caleb!" Hera yelled very, very angry.

"I deserve that," I said rubbing the part of my head that she hit.

"Don't ever do that a-again!" Hera said voice cracking and looked at me with tears in her eyes.

I felt a knot of guilt tie in my chest and hug her again. "I promise on my life to never do it again. I let my anger blind my judgment and almost killed you and Copper. I'm sorry," I said.

"Wait, is Copper alright?" I asked quickly.

   "He's fine," Hera answered.

I sighed in relief then asked, "What about Ahsoka and Joe?"

"Ahsoka disappeared after we got sent to the hospital and Joe passed away from old age about two days ago," Hera said sadly, "I thought you were going to leave me too."

I tightened the hug and let her cry in my shoulder.

"I would never leave you that quickly," I whispered and kissed the top of her head.

We were like that for a couple of minutes until she parted after she calmed down. I placed an arm around Hera's shoulders and she laid her head on one of mine.

"So, how long was I out for?" I asked.

"A week," she answered simply and my eyes widen.

I've been out a whole week.

"Where are we and how did we get here?" I asked again.

"We're in Lothal and some rebels saved us," she said. I nodded as we sat there just talking to each other just like old times when things were simpler.

Yet, now everything has changed and aren't so simple anymore.
