Hera's P.O.V

I woke up to see my fan spin above me. Was I in my room? Wasn't I just out in the living room area with Kanan? Did he bring me to my bed?

It still seemed to be night time and I went to move to see the time but couldn't. 'Great, I'm paralyzed again,' I thought then the sound of my door creaking open came. I looked straight at the door and felt my heart racing.

There was nothing at the door of course a shadow loomed on the other side. The shadow of a figure was standing at the door looking at me but I couldn't see whatever it was. All I could do was widen my eyes in fear and mentally tremble. Then the door shut and I shot up screaming.

I took a deep breath in and out to calm myself telling myself that it was just a dream. Yet, it felt so real which made me tremble more.

"Hera," I heard a voice say on the other side of the now shut door. "Are you ok?" He asked with worry in his tone. It took me a minute to realize that it was Kanan so I replied back, "Yeah, I'm fine. Just a bad dream." It didn't take a genius to know that he was hesitating at the door. "Alright, I'm going back to bed," he said then foot steps could be heard leaving.

I pulled my legs up to my chest and stared at the door. I knew that thing wasn't Kanan because it was here yesterday too. So, what was it? Why does it keep watching me? What does it want?

I unraveled my legs from me and laid back down try to get more sleep. It took a couple twists and turns but eventually I fell asleep.

The next time I awoke, a smile graced my lips with the satisfaction of no other nightmares plagued my mind the rest of the night. I slipped out of bed and changed into different clothes then walked out of the room to see Kanan asleep on the couch. I smiled then walked over to the kitchen area making some breakfast.

I had the day off today so plans for today were made while making breakfast. "Hera?" I looked up to see a tired Kanan rubbing the sleep from his eyes. I smiled and said, "Good morning. Would you like some toast?"

"Uh, sure," he said and handed him a plate of toast with melted butter. I got myself a plate and we both say at the table in silence eating our toast. "So, any plans for today?" Kanan asked me. I looked up into his forest green eyes full of curiosity. "Maybe we can get you some new clothes and I can invite my friend to join us," I suggested.

Kanan almost choked on his food and I raised an eyebrow. "What?" I asked innocently. "Why are you going to buy me clothes? Am I living here or something?" Kanan asked confused. "Well, where else are you going to go?" I asked and Kanan was completely and utterly shocked. "Wait.....you're letting me stay," he said still surprised.

"Of course," I said, "I have an extra room that needs filling but you need a job too."

"Why are you being so nice to me? We met yesterday and you are letting me stay with you," he said. "Like I said yesterday, I have my ways of knowing people and I can tell you aren't one to do harm unless necessary," I explained. Kanan went silent while I put my dirty dishes in the sink.

"Thank you," I heard him mutter in disbelief. I turned around and smiled at him. "It's really no problem," I told him reassuringly. "Yet, it's a big thing for me and I can't tell you how much I'm thankful for everything you have done for me. You are still doing it too even if you don't realize it. Being nice to me.....no one has been so kind to me since....." He trailed off and was lost in thought.

He looked at the tables surface with sadness. I walked over and sat in a seat close to him. Then I hesitated, not really sure if he wants my comfort but soon laid a hand on his. He looked up at me in surprise with glossy eyes. I gave his hand a gentle squeeze and smile before saying, "You're welcome." Soon his frown turned into a smile then suddenly started to laugh.

I raised an eyebrow with confusion then started to laugh with him. I wasn't sure what was so funny but we laughed for quite a while. "Why are we laughing?" I asked confused with some giggling still erupting. "I have no idea," he said.

We both calmed down but kept smiling like two idiots. Kanan stood up and put his dishes in the sink. "You want to head out?" I asked pointing to the door. "Uh, sure," he said and we both left the apartment. This was a start to a new beginning and friendship.
