Hastinapur had been known for its strength, power and enemies such that no kingdom wanted dwell in having any for of enmity with the kingdom as they all saw what happened to the Kashikanya's who were abducted from their swayamvar, ridiculous right but that was their next step to downfall, first being the oath of Devrath AKA Bhishma. Insult and humiliation faced by Kashikanya Amba was something that even the gods shuddered to think of she had asked lord Parshurama for Justice and his fight with Bhishma caused Mahadev to interfere and promise Amba she will be served Justice just asking her to keep faith and believe him. A reluctant Amba agreed to wait and that ended the fight.

The rest of the kingdoms saw this as a power boost to the strong kingdom and they all never wanted to be at the other end during a battle.

The next step to the downfall was the death of Satyavati's Sons and that caused the birth of the three Dridhashtra ( blind from birth), Pandu ( pale from birth) and Vidur(normal but son of a Dasi), the family feud began with the crowning of Pandu as king, and the destroying of Gandhar due to gandhari's refusal to the marriage proposal sent caused a deeper root into the downfall the will follow. The reason of getting gandhari was her boon from maya dev of getting a chance to mother a hundred sons Shakuni was the only surviving relative of the forced kulvadhu of kuruvansh who took up her husbands blindness and blindfold her eyes as a way of showing she accepts his lifestyle and family that however had destroyed her family in the process, some deep corner in Gandhari's heart was bruised and could only hope she doesn't suffer more. Shakuni on the other hand harboured hatred for the entire kuru family and wished that he could do something for his sister. While the kuru family saw gandhari blindfolding herself as an act of rebellion from her end and a mock to her husband no one understood her and with time that had actually worsened. Pandu who also married Kuntibhoja princess Kunti was unknown to her deed of having a son before marriage as a childish mistake and her guilt of not being able to protect or care for her son. Kunti may have made a mistake of doubting a boon and that led to her pregnancy, she however had maturely handled that and asked one of her trusted maid priyamvada to take the child to an ashram (orphanage). Unknown to her the maid had floated the child in the river and lied to Kunti. Kunti prayed for her unclaimed child's well-being and used her princess power to donate jewels and money to the orphanage through priyamvada who actually was cunning to keep it to herself. The gods up there were angry at the maid and suryadev cursed her to be killed and tortured just how she left an innocent Karn into the river but also knew this time the epic was going to be different and that Kunti wasn't cruel to float her child but was ignorant to acknowledge him. They hoped she would further at least inform her family before it was too late.

Karn on the other had floated to Hastinapur where Radha n Adirath adopted him and made his existence almost a secret. The two loved him dearly and took him as their own. His special appearance made them believe he was divine and that he is meant for great things. They felt like their caste might restrict him but promised to give him the truth and free him from their bond should he wish to go back to his original parents.
