Legolas POV

I have been walking around for a while now. My mind is still trying to process what I heard. I should be mad at Alaste-- Estelwen. But for some reason I'm not.

I am interrupted from my thoughts when I hear singing. My eyes go wide.

It's the song.

It's the same girl singing it that sang to me all those years ago.

I have to find her.

I follow the sound of her voice. Until I finally find her sitting on a balcony, her back to me so I cannot see her face.

Walking up to her, I say, "Excuse me."

"Yes?" She asks, turning around. I gasp, its Estelwen.

"You?" I question, shocked. "You are the elleth that saved me and sang that song to me all of those years ago?"

She gives a small sigh before answering, "Yes, that was me. Come over here and sit next to me."

I sit down next to her. "I'm sorry." I apologise to her

She looks at me confused. "What are you apologizing for, Legolas?"

"For being so mean to you. I don't really understand why I was. I hope you can forgive me." I tell her, looking down.

Estelwen POV

"Legolas, look at me." He looks up at me and I continue, "Of course I forgive you. I understand, and there is no need for you to apologise. I should be the one apologizing, for lying to you."

"I'm not mad at you. I just-- I want to know something." He tells me, I am relieved that he is not mad at me.

"What is it?" I ask.

"Why did you risk your life for me? Why do you care about me?" He questions.

I close my eyes for a moment before opening them again and looking into his eyes. "Because, even though you might not see it, you are an amazing person. You are so kind, and you have a big heart. You are a great warrior. I risked my life for you and o care about you, because I love you." I tell him honestly.

His mouth drops open slightly and he is silent for a moment before saying, "You...love me?"

"Yes, Legolas. I love you. I fell in love with you the first time I saw you. I know you have never really felt loved. I know you probably don't share the same feelings, but I needed you to know that I really, honestly, with all my heart, do love you." I answer him.

He looks away again and doesn't say anything for a while. I am about to say something when he starts talking.

"I think I finally realized something. I could never figure out why I was so mad at you when you almost got yourself killed when we were on that mountain. Or why I was so scared you were going to die when you saved me from that arrow."

"Sorry to interrupt, but I need you to know something." I pause and he nods for me to continue. "When we were on that mountain, the reason why that happened is because I'm the one who pulled you back so you wouldn't fall."

"You were the one? I thought it was Gandalf." Legolas says and I shake my head. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"Well, I tried too but--"

"But I yelled at you." I nod my head. "Sorry."

"It is alright. Go ahead and continue what you were saying."

"So, what I realized is, the reason why I was so mad and so scared was because... I think I fell in love with you."

He looks back into my eyes and we stare at each other for a moment. Then we both start to lean in.
