"It's fine! There's nothing wrong!" Nyssa's voice yells from the forges.

Immediately, a large flame erupted out of the west window.

"What were you thinking?" another voice replied.

"It's fine, I can handle it!" the first voice exclaimed.

I rushed over. "What did you guys do this time?"

Nyssa cursed. "Nothing, it's fine, don't worry about me."

The second voice yelled something about Leo and his machines, but I couldn't hear anything over the roar of the flames.

"What are you doing? Get a fire extinguisher!" a new voice said behind me. I guessed it was Katie.

"I got it." Jason was running over, holding a red can. He tried to stop the flames, but they seemed to grow larger.

"What are you doing? I said it was fine!" Nyssa demanded. She emerged from the forge, her face covered in soot, part of her hair singed.

"Why did the water make it worse?" I asked.

"Leo left an unused automaton at one of the worktables," Nyssa breathed. She screamed and ran back into the forge.

I looked behind me at Jason and Katie. Jason raised an eyebrow. "How did Leo have time to build something before he left with Apollo-"

"Lester." Katie interrupted.

"Whatever. It's not green, it's just regular flames! And why would he leave it out? " Jason demanded.

"Nyssa, what's going on?" I willed some charmspeak to seep into my question.

A furious scream echoed from the forges. "Leo and his stupid inventions! I'm going to kill him when he gets back!"

"What are we supposed to do? I mean, they have higher fire tolerance than us, but they can't stay in there much longer." Jason said.

"Hey, it's dangerous in there! Come outside so we can help you!" I shouted.

A few dazed campers came outside, their faces black with ash. But Nyssa continued yelling about Leo and his stupidity.  "I've got it under control! Stop bothering me!"

"Nyssa, please come outside! It's dangerous!" Katie yelled.

Finally, Nyssa climbed out the east window, a look of murder on her face. "It's too hot in there to continue, but I think we need unicorn draught to stop it."

"I'll go ask Will if he has any," Jason replied. He ran towards the Apollo cabin.

Nyssa looked like she was going to say something, but her reply was cut short. Four figures appeared in the distance, flying on something.

"Wait, are those brooms?" Katie gulped.

The figures landed. A red-headed man called out to us, " We come in peace!"

"Ron, why would you start with that?" a woman with curly brown hair demanded.

"Hey, I thought that was a good way to start."

Everyone but Ron rolled their eyes.

"It's okay, I believe you. But it's dangerous here, and you need to stay away. You don't want to get hurt." I insisted.

They looked like they were going to mount their brooms and fly away, but a man with shaggy black hair and a scar on his forehead turned to me. "Nice try, but your magic doesn't work on me. I've had to clear my head for years."

Katie, Nyssa, and the assembled Hephaestus campers looked at me, then to the newcomer.

"We're here to help with that-the man gestured towards the growing fire-predicament."

Then, in unison, they all yelled, "Aguamenti!" Jets of clear, pure water emerged from things that resembled wands. The fire only blazed and roared in reply.

Their confidence faltered, and Jason ran up happily. "Hey, I got the-"

Everybody stared at him.

"Oh."
