Summary

Mia is living in an abusive home when she meets classmate Jacob, who changes her life for the better.

Cover/Blurb

The cover is ok, it fits the tone of the story but it's pretty simple. The summary says there is no summary.

Grammar

Then punctuation and spelling seem fine to me. I'd personally suggest cutting back on POV changes in the future. It made the story feel a little all over the place, especially when you would go over the same events just in different POV's.

Characters

The main characters in this book are Mia, and Jacob. There are some side characters but to be honest they mostly feel like they are just there to advance the plot. Mia is a sweet girl with a kind personality, but she isn't that strong of a character. She is a victim of physical, and mental abuse but the way it is written isn't all that compelling. Her father hits her because he's a drunk asshole. She is scared because she's abused. These are part of an abuse victims life however that is only surface level. I would have loved to have seen more of her early life perhaps with a non-abusive parent to maybe highlight why she stays for so long. I hope that makes sense. As for Jacob his personality is interesting and fun to read but his interactions with Mia are strange, and a bit stalkerish. He does help her by getting her out of an abusive home, great! But he does this by running to her house right after he meets her, and he only does this because she didn't show up at school. He gets way too possessive of her especially considering they have just met.

Plot

The plot feels very rushed to me. At almost the very beginning of the book Mia is put in a comma, and instead of being sent to a hospital the doctor leaves her with some teenage boys (Jacob and his friends). They care for her, and don't do any creepy stuff to her while she's sleeping, but when Mia wakes up she easily accepts that these boys she hardly knows have been looking after her. Mia then moved in with Jacob right after she meets him. Overall a lot of the plot feels forced rather than natural.

Final Thoughts

I am personally not a big romance fan, but if you are one I think you would enjoy it. Though it can feel a little rushed in places it has a lot of heart.
