Chapter Eight

Harry

Harry had a hard time sleeping. Thoughts about the demigods were racing through his mind all night, but he managed to rest his eyes for a bit. When he woke up with no dreams haunting him for once, he smiled, and dashed to get up and into his clothes. When he was dressed he found all of the demigods gathered around Percy's sleeping form. He was twitching, and they other boys had concerned looks on their faces.

"What's going on?" Harry asked after Ron and Neville were gathered around Percy too.

"He's dreaming of Tartarus again," Grover answered with what sounded like a goat's bleat. It was then that Harry realized how pale Grover was, and he saw the sweat trailing down his face.

Harry looked questioningly at Jason who answered, "They have an empathy link."

Harry had no idea what that meant, but he decided not to question it. "Shouldn't we wake him up?"

"With these dreams it doesn't work. We have to either wait it out, or have Annabeth wake him, but she needs her sleep too," Nico answered, twisting his skull ring anxiously.

They took turns watching Percy as they got dressed, and he would occasionally mutter things like, "Arachne, Gaea, Kronos, Monsters, Annabeth," and more.

Since Harry was already dressed, he had plenty of time to think.

The demigods sounded really stuck up the previous night when they said "Savior of Olympus," and all that. Especially Percy.

Everyone was distracted as they walked to the Great Hall and while they ate breakfast. The demigods did their thing with the food again which Harry learned was an offering to the gods. As soon as the food was cleared from the tables, Professor McGonagall and the other teachers herded the students outside by the Black Lake for the demigod's demonstrations.

Percy was up first. He said, "You all know I'm a son of Poseidon, and because of that I can manipulate water."

To prove his point he gathered water from the Black Lake and made himself stand inside a mini-hurricane. He then pulled out a regular pen and said, "This is my favorite weapon."

Harry heard snickers and without looking, he knew they came from Draco and his friends. Percy smirked and uncapped his pen and everyone-including Harry-gasped, because Percy was now holding a gleaming sword. "This is Anaklusmos," he said proudly. "The English translation is Riptide." He then capped the sword and shoved it in his pocket again.

He gestured to Annabeth who reluctantly stood up. "This is my weapon." She held up a celestial bronze knife. "Athena-my mother-gave me this as a birthday present." She then held up a cap that had the word Yankees on it. She put it on, and suddenly, she was gone! There was a shriek coming from Malfoy, and then Annabeth reappeared next to him with her dagger against Malfoy's throat and in her other hand was her cap.

She walked back to Percy who put an arm around her while Jason stepped forward. "Since my father is the Lord of the Skies, I can manipulate the winds, and sort of, make myself fly." While he said that, he slowly made himself rise up off the ground. "My weapon is this," he continued pulling a sword from his belt, "and it's called a gladius."

Thalia came up next and demonstrated what she could do. Her weapon was a bow and arrows since she was a Hunter of Artemis, and a silver bracelet that when she tapped sprang up into a shield a horrid face upon it. The demigods said the face was Medusa, and Annabeth, Percy, and Grover cringed when they said it. Thalia called the shield Aegis. Thalia could also control lighting, and when she demonstrated that she created a patch of smoking grass.

Frank came forward and showed us that he preferred to use a bow and arrows and we were all shocked when he showed us that he could shape-shift.

Hazel was next. "I used a spatha, a Roman cavalry sword. I can also find underground tunnels and jewels." To prove her point she made nuggets of gold pop to the surface of the ground. Before anyone could take them, she made them disappear again and explained that they were cursed.

Leo stood up next and showed us his weapons. He reached inside a tool belt around his waist and pulled out a gigantic hammer. There is no way that thing fits in there! Harry thought.

From the looks on everyone's faces Harry could tell that they were thinking the same thing. "The tool belt is magic," Leo said simply seeing our shocked expressions. "I am also a fire user," he added and then made his hands burst into flames.

Piper spoke up and told us she was a charm speaker. When Luna asked what that meant, she demonstrated by charm speaking Leo into slapping himself. She also showed us her dagger Katropis.

Nico came forward and said, "My sword is made out of Stygian Iron. I can take lives with it. I can also summon skeletons and ghosts." Then he stepped back with a scowl still on his face.

Grover was the last person. He showed everyone how he could make roots grow from the ground using his reed pipes. He also explained how he was a Lord of the Wild.

When they were done, Professor McGonagall let everyone have a day of classes off. She instructed Harry and his friends to show around the demigods, so they did. Before that though, she pulled aside Percy and Annabeth, and when they returned they were grinning like crazy. They wouldn't tell anyone though.

When everyone got back to the common room after dinner, the demigods went and talked amongst themselves. Harry sighed and left for the dorms. He collapsed on his bed and eventually drifted off to sleep thinking, How could they have saved this, Olympus? They don't look like warriors!
