Chapter Twenty-Five

Percy

Percy had witnessed another death. A death of someone he only knew for a little over a week.

They had left Hogwarts at the end of the year, and Percy had turned a bunch of wizards into amateur fighters during some of that time.

At the end of the year they left by pegasi so that Nico could have a break from shadow-traveling. Percy whistled for Blackjack who arrived with many friends to carry everyone. Percy had already said his good-byes, so while everyone else did he spoke with Blackjack.

“Hey Blackjack,” Percy said.

Yo, boss! he whinnied.

“What did I say about calling me boss?” Percy asked.

To not call you that, Blackjack replied.

“Then don’t call me boss!”

Sure thing, boss! You got anything to eat?

Percy sighed but fed him and all of the other pegasi a few sugar cubes that he had.

Percy climbed onto Blackjack a few minutes later with Annabeth behind him. “I’m going to miss this place,” she whispered in Percy’s ear. “The architecture is amazing!”

“So you won’t miss the wizards?” Percy replied.

“Of course I will! I just, Percy!”  she said in frustration.

Percy chuckled as they took off.

We’ll see them again, Percy thought as he waved to the wizards' small forms.

His year had been as crazy as usual. He fought a wizard descended from Hermes and had received more scars in the process. But Percy was proud of his scars now. He didn’t mind. Annabeth said it showed his character.

When they finally returned to Camp Half-Blood Percy felt complete. Camp Half-Blood was his home, his sanctuary.

Chiron greeted them and was about to ask how their year went, but seeing how tired they were he told everyone to go catch some sleep. “We’ll talk in the morning,” he added.

Connor and Travis Stoll had returned after their help was no longer needed, but they met Percy on his way to his cabin.

“Anything else interesting happen after we left?” Travis asked.

“Nope. How’s my Camp?” he asked fingering the beads around his neck.

“Perfect,” Connor said.

Just the way it should be, Percy thought to himself with a smile. He wondered if he would ever get a break. The way his life had been so far, Percy didn’t think so. But he was okay with it, it made life interesting.

And interesting is good, right?
