So our good friend The_Writer_Of_Stuff has decided to join in the fun! His country is called "Crestgard" and as such has only been active for a few hours. Here is a short little review on Crestgard!

Civil Rights: 55/100 "Average"

Some room for improvement here, well below Ancapanda's starting numbers

Economy: 52/100 "Good"

Also room for improvement, but not bad. Also well below Ancapanda's numbers

Political Freedoms: 20/100 "Rare"

About the same as Ancapanda.

All these are pretty moderate and standard, and very balanced as far as the creator has first designed the country. Things could go either way here.

The simulator classifies Crestgard as a "Father knows best" state, which is interesting. When one describes a "father knows best" state, it is apparent that the government definitely has an opinion as to what you can do with your body (smoking/alcohol). This is apparent when it shows up in the defense/police spending, which accounts for 40% of Crestgard's government budget.

However, such a strong police/law and order state has its consequences. First off is the development of a Black Market, where goods that become illegal are bought and sold in unsafe environments. Think about Prohibition of Alcohol in the early 1900's that led to a rise in mob crimes, or the current War on Drugs that forces the power to sell drugs into the hands of violent gangsters, who use drastic means to defend their "business" from law enforcement.

Another consequence of such large amounts of law and order spending is a large Tax Burden on its citizens. Crestgard has an average tax rate of 38.3%, compared to Ancapanda's flat tax (everyone pays the same percentage) of 7%. In order to pay for such large amounts of law and order and police that tell people what they can and can't put in their body, the government must confiscate a larger amount of tax from its citizens to pay for such policies.

It's too early to really tell with the Crestgard's politically moderate and centrist views as to how things will turn out, but for an early prediction: The_Writer_of_Stuff has shown an early preference for military defense and Law and Order, so expect taxes to stay around the same amount, the economy to gradually improve, and civil rights to bounce around. Political freedoms have also been on the upswing (there's really no where for them to go but up, same as with Ancapanda).

Final Verdict: I can't really get a good sense of direction to where Crestgard is headed, but it's definitely not going to go down the tubes. Keep up the good work!
