In the course of my daily life, I met a lovely man who told me this story.  He told me his wife said to him one day "I don't think we're going to have grand children, isn't it sad?"  They were sorry  they would have to come to terms with this situation, as they really wanted some.  Their only daughter was 30 years old and had no interest in boyfriends.

Some time later their daughter phoned them, "There is some one I want you to meet." she said. This was the new man in her life.  They met her boyfriend and could tell they were very much in love.  Four months later they were married; a year later they had their first baby, a boy and two years later another boy.   The man and his wife were delighted at having become grandparents and especially to two boys, which was a change from having a girl themselves.

Now the boys are six years old and four years old.  When they stay with their grandparents they leave behind two very tired people!  He remarked to me what hard work it is and I had to agree, having seven grand children myself!  

We talked about what funny things children say and he told me this.  His eldest grandson said to him,  "Grandad, are you old?" (he is 60) to which grandad replied "Yes, a bit."  The boy looked him up and down and replied, "Which bit?"

Ha, ha!

I can tell you all now, I have more than one old bit!
