I laid down by a river after the sunset. The Alphas can have the shard tomorrow.

"Dare, you always fail me." I turned around and Greely and I sat there, but it was younger me, "I do so much to impress you." Greely stood up, "You run from everything that you're scared of or confused about. One day in the future you will have to take our life to save somebody else's, but all you will do is run. I'll never accept you as a student, not even a jammer, you're less then a piece of sand." Greely sat above me as I sat in a corner, "You're weak but I can use you for information for the phantoms." I ran, I watched it all happen again. Air... I need air... I need to stop running.

I woke up under water. I tried to swim up fast but I lost to much oxygen. As soon as I reached surface I took a huge deep breath. To my convenience a log floated by and I grabbed onto it. I used my legs to push the log back to shore. I reached for the shard to find it was still there. Why do I still help... Even after they hurt me. I looked back at the water still coughing. The tide must have came in early. I went to lay back down but a giant tiger jumped in front of me. This one wasn't Gilbert, "Who are you?" The growl from their voice let out they were a girl, "I'm the one who takes the shard." I growled back, "I sacrificed my life once for it and I'll do it again." She let out a laugh, "I guess the shard isn't the only thing I'm taking." Her claws shot out, "Let's dance pretty boy." She jumped towards me and I rolled underneath and cut he stomach open. The girl laughed as it healed like it never happened. She then lifted her hand, "You're wet. Cheater." I laughed a little, "You really hate water don't you." She growled and hit my face. Her huge claws scratched down my sides and blood dripped down to my legs. She grabbed the shard and stabbed it into my back leg then pulled it out. Trying my best to dodge her amazingly fast moves, I jumped at her knocking her into the water behind her. She sunk down and steam came from the water as she disappeared under. My fedora was falling down, and the shard sat on the ground. After I picked it up, I limped back to the HQ. The sticks and stuff lying around the forest cut up my legs more. As soon as I got to the HQ I walked right into a Alpha meeting and threw the shard at Gilbert and walked out. A blood trail followed me as I left the room. Peck ran up behind me, "Dare this is crazy. What happened." I turned around with blood still running down my face and sides, "To me it looked like a female version of Gilbert."
