Annabeth's Pov
-So what happened?
Grover asked me and Percy. We got on the train and Grover looked very confused, which was right, he only remembered being bitten by Medusa's snake and falling unconscious, almost dying, now he opened his eyes and was on a normal train. And sitting right in front of him was me, the daughter of Hades who had left 2 years ago, if it were me, I would be just as surprised as him.
Percy sat next to Grover and explained to him. Percy briefly but with all the important things. He just didn't say that I promised to do everything to bring honor to the Underworld, maybe because he was afraid Grover would feel guilty.
-Did Hades accept the offer just for Medusa's head?
Grover asked, his face showing skepticism.
-Yeah, can we stop talking about that? The whole Medusa thing and how you...you know.
Percy said. It didn't seem like he wanted to talk about it anymore, I agreed. No one wanted to talk about their friend almost dying from poison. I knew Hades agreed mostly because I had promised. Besides I had basically given my entire life for the Underworld. It wasn't that bad, I wasn't sure I would live long and if I actually did something heroic and survived (which was very unlikely) the Underworld would get the recognition it deserved and my brothers and sisters wouldn't have to suffer so much in the future. And besides, I saved Grover, killing two birds with one stone, right? After all, demigods were born to fight, and I knew that even though Hades never said it outright, he always expected me to become a "hero", the exercises and training were all for that purpose, so if I refused, Hades would still find some way to force me to do it.
Grover must have sensed something was wrong with both of us so he decided not to bring it up again even though he clearly had something else to ask.
-So Annabeth, how are you? Long time no see?
Grover turned to me and asked. He seemed worried about me, thanks Grover..
-Oh I..I'm fine, I've been in Hades Castle for the past few years. But now I have a mission to find the Helm of Darkness, so can I come with you?
I said, Grover definitely knew that I had been following him and Percy but probably chose not to say anything.
-Hey Percy, have you thought about what you'd say to the Roman demigod if your theory was correct?
I asked him, I was very skeptical about this whole Roman demigod thing but it was the only theory that seemed plausible to me so there was no other way.
-Let's see, maybe we should pretend to be Greek ambassadors? Or really pretend to be Romans? Then we can find out more about Camp Jupiter. I've read some about the Romans, their mythology.
Percy put his hand on his chin. I don't think he really believes that Camp Jupiter exists. Deep down, he probably still thinks Hades is the culprit. I still need to be careful.
-But there are only 10 days until the Summer Solstice.,sigh, this is too difficult.
Percy sighed, his face looked like he was having a difficult problem. Although no one said anything, I somehow understood that Zeus and Poiseden were arguing loudly, the sky was extremely gloomy and Poiseden attacked me. Well, maybe in 10 days they will really fight. It's a big deal, it makes me feel like I have to hurry.
Suddenly Grover and Percy's faces darkened. I swallowed and looked behind me to see a Chimera standing tall in the back of the train. Maybe it was hunting me. I drew my sword, maybe it had already smelled me here. That's why being the child of the great three is not something to celebrate.
-Hey wait, you shouldn't rush straight into it!
Percy stopped me. Actually, I didn't intend to rush straight at it, but I didn't bother to say it back (he didn't let me say it back, to be more precise).
-It seems like it hasn't seen you yet-
Suddenly we heard a scream from the Chimera, I quickly turned around and saw the Chimera with its leg injured was lifting a woman dressed like a transporter? And in her hand was a spear(??) , her other hand was holding a fairly sturdy reinforced box with its hand. Normal monsters don't attack mortals, but if it's too hungry... then things will be different.
-So can we rush in now!?
I asked him again. But Percy had already run ahead of me. Grover was sweating. I also ran straight after him.
He ran to the front of the other car. I saw him stop so I stopped too. He looked at me as if he wanted to ask. Let me guess? He wanted me to distract the Chimera because I was the most delicious bait for the monsters.
-Needless to say, I will distract the monster and you will save that girl, is that what you think?
I said.
-Actually, it's the opposite. I plan to shoot fire at the Chimera to scare it a bit, then you will rush up and cut off its hand and save that girl.
Percy said. His hand looked like it was about to shoot a strong spark. So my guess was almost right. I nodded. Then I kicked the door open (it wasn't broken, but I should probably prepare a reasonable excuse later).
Percy ran a little closer and shot a large flame towards the monster. As a result, the surrounding things also showed signs of burning a little. The Chimera spread its wings. I Shadow Traveled close to the monster's hand and slashed at its hand, because it was surprised by being burned by an unknown flame and being cut on the hand unexpectedly, it threw the girl towards me as a form of self-defense. I didn't have time to react to catch her so she was thrown into the wall. Before I could go to check on her, the Chimera almost scratched my face. Luckily, I was able to block that blow.
Both Percy and I were busy dealing with the Chimera so we couldn't run out to save the girl. The other passengers who remained in the carriage (more than 2/3 of the passengers in the carriage had left when the Chimera strangled the girl) looked at us with slightly scared and worried eyes. Perhaps they saw two 12-year-old children fighting with a gangster.
Suddenly Grover came to the girl, fed her Ambrosia and quickly carried her to a safer place. So she wasn't an ordinary person. The Chimera screamed angrily and flapped its wings, wanting to chase the girl. So this Chimera had a certain goal, not just attacking randomly or wanting to challenge or eat the demigod.
Percy was struggling with it with his knife and fire. Percy was gradually losing strength. Percy didn't seem to have a very good physique for a demigod. Maybe that was the price for being able to use fire. If you think about it, it was a pretty bad trade. Being shunned and having a body that wasn't fit to be a demigod fighter in exchange for fire.
Then I used the shadow to hold the Chimera back, holding my sword in one hand and trying to get close to it while trying to avoid the attacks from the Chimera's arms and wings, but I couldn't get too close to it because it was spitting fire randomly and also partly because the narrow space of the train car wasn't conducive to fighting.
-Annabeth! Keep the Chimera off guard forward for me!
I Shadow Traveled behind the Chimera and clung to its back. It used its wings to swipe at my face. I felt like I was being scratched by a dozen cats at once.
Percy took advantage of the moment the Chimera was busy dealing with me to rush forward through the flames and used the melted spear that I didn't know when he had gotten it to stab it straight into its mouth. The Chimera screamed in pain, its arms waving even more wildly and wildly. Percy was immediately thrown to the next row by the Chimera.
But then the Chimera disappeared into thin air. I quickly ran to Percy to see if he was okay.
-I'm fine. Let's go back to Grover.
Percy said, breathing heavily. Percy stood up, then Percy and I ran as fast as we could to where we had been sitting. Where Grover had dragged the girl. The girl was better because of the Ambrosia. Percy and I also drank some Nectar to heal some of her skin wounds. Percy looked at the girl.
-Thanks for saving me..I'm Elisa Whitehead. Who are you?
-Percy Jackson, Son of Heaphatus
-Annabeth Chase, you probably guessed it but Daughter of Hades
-Grover Underwood, A Satyr.
-So..I am the Daughter of Nemesis. I am an Amazon
Then Elisa turned back to check the box she was carrying. Amazons? Not that I had never heard of them but this was the first time I had seen an Amazon in the flesh.
-Amazon..??
Percy asked with a slightly confused voice. It seemed like he didn't know them, after all, he had only been introduced to this world for 2 weeks.
-They are independent female warriors, often mistaken for the hunters of the goddess Artemis, first founded by a daughter of the war god Ares. Currently, they also take care of the Amazon delivery service.
I explained to him. Percy looked like he understood part of the problem. Maybe Elisa was on her way to deliver the goods when she was attacked.
-Hey..can I ask you guys a favor? When my team and I were delivering the goods, we were attacked by Edchina. I was lucky enough to take this item and run away but then the Chimera came and attacked me, luckily I met you guys. I can't leave my sisters in Edchina's hands. Can you..?
Elisa knelt down, her face filled with guilt for running away.
Percy looked at Grover, and Grover nodded. Perhaps Percy wanted to test whether Elisa could be trusted through thr satyr empathy line thing.
- Okay! But in return, can you give us a ride to California? After we save your comrades?
Percy said, smiling in an attempt to sound friendly. Elisa seemed to mumble a little.
- We can only take you to New Mexico, is that okay?
Elisa asked, tilting her head a little. Her face was filled with indescribable anxiety.
- Okay! That's good enough!
Percy said, his voice smiling. With a demigod's quest, the signs in the mythical world were either good or bad depending on the situation, but it normally would lead to the end of the quest. So I think we should take this job, and saving people is also a good thing.
-So we'll get off at the next station?
