"I'm home!" Dawn shouts as she walks into her home. Theo peaks his head around the corner and smiles at her. "Hey, Cricket!" Dawn smiles and hugs her father. "How was school?" He asks her. Dawn frowns, remembering what had just occurred and looks down in thought. "It was... strange... This guy, I swear he-" Dawn pauses and realizes how absolutely insane and impossible it is.

She shakes her head and looks at her father who watches her with a look of concern. "I'm sure it was nothing. Let's get started on the office." Dawn walks past him and into the office. Theo hears her chatting with Josh, but remains where he is. Dawn has never been one to talk about the darker parts of her life. Her demigod life. She's trying to protect her family, but watching her in this sort of conflict hurts Theo more than a monster ever could.

With a sigh Theo walks into the office and laughs loudly. Somehow, in the process of opening the paint canister, it got all over Josh and Dawn. "Stop laughing!" Dawn says as she too begins to laugh. A devious smile appears on her face and she sticks her hand in the paint canister. She starts chasing Theo around the room. "Dawn! No, stop!"

Jasper can't help but smirk as Dawn walks into class with paint littering her skin and hair. She huffs as she sits next to him. She hasn't forgotten what had happened the day before, but what is she to do? Ask why he doesn't have a heartbeat? Wouldn't he then wonder how she knew? Dawn was stuck and paranoid

"What's this about?" Jasper asks, reaching for a flake of grey paint in her hair. Dawn glances at his hand, then meets his eyes. "Painting ended up a bit messier than expected." She answers with a slight smile, then turns to face the board, tense. Jasper frowns as her emotions reach him. Fear. He reels for a moment, then looks down.

Of course, what was he to expect?

Jasper glances over at Dawn where she sits in the lunchroom. She doesn't seem particularly interested in her food, although she stares at it blankly. He tries to get a read on her, but her emotions are changing sporadically. Happy, disgusted, reminiscent, just so many at once he can't seem to place what she is feeling the strongest.

"Edward," He says, not taking his eyes off the girl. Edward looks at him. "What is she thinking?" He asks, nodding toward Dawn. Edward glances at Jasper then looks at Dawn. He pushes into her mind and raises an eyebrow. She's a fast thinker, that's for sure, and just like her appearance, inside her mind is bright and bubbly.

Edward laughs a bit and Jasper looks at him. "She-" He chuckles. "She's having an inner debate about the abnormality that is blueberries." Jasper raises an amused eyebrow and nods for Edward to elaborate. "Blue on the outside, but if peeled, are green, then when squished, appear purple." Edward frowns a bit. "A valid wonder." He mumbles.

Jasper chuckles and shakes his head. Now that he thinks about it, blueberries are rather strange. Edward pushes past the many odd thoughts and frowns when he hears a mention of Jasper in her thoughts. Reaching for the thought, Edward's jaw suddenly drops. "How-" He starts, then looks to Jasper alarmed. "She knows you don't have a heartbeat."

All the Cullens turn to Edward. "What? How?" Edward glances at Dawn and his eyes widen. "She somehow knew when she touched you." Jasper leans forward, eyebrows creased. "Does she... know?" He asks, implying their secret.

Edward shakes his head and they all turn to look at Dawn. "No." Edward tilts his head. "What is an Emousai?"

Dawn snaps out of her trance as her phone begins ringing. She pulls it out of her bag and smiles seeing her father's name. She excuses herself from the table and walks away. Jasper stands and follows after her.

"Hey, Dad." She greets lightly. Jasper peaks around the corner just in time to see her frown. "How bad is it?"

"Bad. He may not have long to live. A month at most."

Jasper raises an eyebrow, then remembers Dawn's father works with Carlisle. Dawn bites her lip and nods, crossing an arm around herself. "I'll be right there." She states before she hands up. Dawn turns and bumps right into Jasper. "Oh! Hi." She is surprised by his sudden appearance. "Um, I have- Excuse me." Dawn slips past him and he watches her walk past the lunchroom and towards the school exit.

After a moment's hesitation, Jasper walks back into the lunch room.

Dawn looks around the hospital hallway she is waiting in. It's much more run down than the hospital Theo used to work at in New York. "Dawn." Theo says as he walks up to her. They both begin walking down the hallway. "I gave him a mild sedative to help him sleep." Dawn nods and looks into a doorway her father has led her to. Lying on a hospital bed inside is a sleeping child, eyes dark and features sullen.

"I don't understand. How could it have gotten this bad?" Theo sighs and shakes his head. "His parents couldn't afford treatment. If it wasn't for Dr. Cullen, he would have died a long time ago." Dawn raises an eyebrow at her father. "He offered him treatment pro bono." He clarifies. Dawn nods and chews at her lip, thoughts and ideas running through her mind.

"How long will you need?" He asks her. Dawn doesn't take her eyes off the boy. "An hour. I want to make sure I do everything I can." Theo nods, then turns to Dawn, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Don't over do it though." Dawn glances at the boy. "Please." He pleads. Dawn sighs and nods. "Okay."

Theo nods and leaves her to it. Dawn walks into the room and locks the door behind her. He has every right to be worried about her helping this boy. In the past, Dawn has become ill from extending her power too far. Not only that, but if she heals someone completely, then people get suspicious.

Dawn sits next to the boy and glances at the child drawings above his head. His name is Daniel. Dawn begins humming, and her palms begin to glow as she takes his hand in hers. Dawn grunts as she takes his pain away from him, but smiles seeing his facial features grow soft. Her humming turns to singing as the soft notes fill the silence.

Dawn steps out of the hospital room and meets her father's eyes from where he stands at the nurses station. He deflates with a sigh and walks over to his daughter. "I thought you weren't going to overdo it?" Dawn's heavy eyes look down. "I'm sorry," She mumbles. "He was just in so much pain." Theo takes his daughter's face into his hand and smiles at her. He plants a kiss on her forehead and pulls her into a hug.

"I want to stay until he wakes up." Dawn mutters into her father's lab coat. He smiles and nods, stroking her hair. "I think that can be arranged."

Theo has Dawn sit by the nurses station to wait for the boy to wake. Since she isn't family, she can't stay with Daniel and his parents are apparently filling double shifts at their jobs to at least try and pay for whatever their son needs. Dawn had tried to start her homework to try and pass the time, but per usual, she kept getting distracted so she gave up.

A nurse exited Daniel's room with a smile on his face. "He's awake!" He announces to his fellow nurses. Dawn stands instantly, smiling brightly. "Page Mr. Cullen and Miller. Tell them its a miracle!"
