The world wouldn't want to know it is falling apart until it has burned to ashes.

Perhaps that is what the town of Syrena believed when the mad king declared war over Demenia again. Perhaps that is why they lived like nothing ever happened, why none of them told their children about the blood their soldiers shed everyday. That is, until the enemy reached their homes.

“It was a massacre.” People would whisper in agony on the streets years later, “No one could've survived.” But they would be wrong, the only thing humans cared about more than their own lives were the lives of their children.

The fire set by the enemies couldn't illuminate the boat flowing in the river leading to the waterfall filled with terrified children. Syrena fought, of course, but they were nothing in front of swords and flames. But beneath the tears in their eyes from facing death, there was the pride of saving their bloodline.

Not all would survive the fall when the boat reached the end of the river, but it gave them a chance. In a world which found power in death, a chance to live was more than enough to wreak havoc.
