INTRO TO ANNIHILATIUM BOIS

Extreme gore and emetophobia (vomiting) warn btw
_____________
Chaos. That's what ensued our city. Radios buzzed, car tires screeched, and people screamed. It felt like a movie, when everything is silent, then suddenly blasts your ears out with the scream of the girl in the shower being stabbed by the killer.

I ran through the streets of Manhattan, New York, car alarms screaming into my eardrums everywhere I looked. Looking down at my feet, so not to see the guts of the people ahead of me being thrown into the walls of the buildings at my sides, I stared at my bright yellow flip-flops. I wanted to stop and go back in time. Maybe I could try to unsee fifteen minute ago. My thoughts were interrupted by-

Splat!

-a gory, human, thirty foot snake known as intestines being flung into my side, throwing me off balance and smashing into a car window. The problem was that the window had already been broken, leaving shards at the edges. Pain took control of me, and I cried out after the shards scratched my face five different ways. Taking my head out of the window and refusing to instinctively grab my face, I instead covered my mouth to stop myself from vomiting. The smell of the organ was putrid, not to mention that inside the car was what seemed to be an elderly man's corpse in the driver's seat, whose head was freshly stabbed all the way through. The face wasn't recognizable at all, in fact, it seemed alien-like. The only remnant was his lower jaw, which hung like a loose hinge with all but three teeth missing. Looking past him, the rest of the car looked like someone took strawberry jam and blew it everywhere. Crimson stained all of the glass, leather, walls, and carpeting.

I breathed, and despite the intense feeling to keep running, the urge to puke was much higher. A light yellow surge of bile barreled up my throat and spattered onto the side of the car and the ground. I didn't care about the hundreds of people running by at this point. They probably wanted to do the same. I gasped for air, coughing a bit afterward. I wiped the bile off my mouth with the back of my hand, smothering it into my plain gray shirt. I looked back at the window and screamed, seeing a familiar girl staring back at me. She looked shell-shocked, but no guns were ever fired.

Dang it, I jinxed it.

The military showed. I looked back, away from the girl, seeing the mechanical aliens that spelled out 'doom' for earth itself. They looked like the flying saucers you'd see in movies. The saucers had six legs each, with three-toed claws like a chicken. They each had an otherworldly range of motion. Each machine was about fifteen feet tall. They all were stained in crimson and had a variety of human organs all over them, bones if they weren't already crushed, and some even had glass and other materials clogging their machinery. I looked back at the girl, who stared behind me, terrified. I got concerned. She ran around the car, tackling me to the ground when she screamed,

"PARKER, MOVE!"

We both hit the ground, dodging an alien foot that was about to smash into my back and squash all of my organs into the car. Instead, it smashed into the car and crushed between two buildings, which was where an alleyway laid.

"KATE, GET OFF ME WE HAVE TO MOVE!"

She got up, and waited for me, anxiously staring at the leg that slowly removed itself from the car and returned to the rest of its body. Once I was up, she dragged me by the arm over to where the car was thrown. She let go and climbed over, running into the alley. I looked back, reluctant to leave Mom behind. I lost her in all of the commotion. I was the last one she had left.

My parents decided to divide and conquer. My mom would go with me, and my dad would go with my ten year old brother. They said me and Mom would run through Manhattan, maybe hijack a car and drive south until we couldn't. If this really was the apocalypse, no one cares about the law. My brother and my dad would do the same but go up to Niagara Falls, towards southeast Canada. Then we'd go west, and meet somewhere near the Michigan-Canada border. However, not even ten minutes after we made the plan, my dad and my brother both died to those alien-murder-drones.

I could've saved my brother at least-

Kathrine screamed,

"PARKER, COME ON!"

I snapped out of it, climbing over the car and following the girl of my dreams.

Once we were far enough into the alley, we both sat down against the opposite walls. We were both out of breath. Junior gym classes don't prepare us for this, only stuff like football and track. Through heavy breaths, I asked,

"Kate, are you alright?"

"For the most part,"

She shakily lifted her right arm to show a shallow slash going across her outer forearm, near her elbow. She continued,

"It could've been worse."

She looked back at me, with concern in her eyes.

"I saw you ralphed, huh?"

I forgot she saw that.

"Oh, yeah. It's disgusting."

"I could barely look at those robots without getting queasy too. It's alright."

She paused, still reasonably nervous.

"Oh, and what was with you just standing there, you dumbo?"

She had a certain annoyance in her voice, yet was calling me "dumbo", a funny nickname she gave me for when I was being stupid.

"Well an alien invasion doesn't happen everyday, now does it."

We both stayed quiet, the only sounds being the same old screams and crashes, with the occasional shake of the buildings. We somehow still shared a comfortable silence being in each other's presence. I guessed we'd be staying here a while.
