You wondrous flowering plant

You were once thought to be poisonous

To both children and pets

But that's just a false legend

The botanist that found them in Mexico

Had these Mexican flame flowers

Named for him and his efforts to bring them

To the greenhouses in South Carolina

Where they have become a Christmas flower
