I realize that may seem like a lot for just one but some of these actually fit together v well!!

By the way, if you have any questions throughout this, feel free to ask. I wasn't quite sure how to explain certain things and my captions were limited. These are also just the way I do things, I'm not tryna pretend these are the only methods that work and how you apply them is up to you!

If you've been around s little while, you might have noticed that I'm a big fan of figure/gesture/life drawing and I def recommend them to get better at understanding the human figure, and drawing in general. Two of the biggest, most important things they've taught me are lines of action and breaking up the 3D world into shapes and volumes that can be translated onto a 2D canvas!

First of all, lines of action

These are my go to for making poses less stiff! They've helped me so much,,

Once you've got your basic line to structure a body on, how do you flesh it out?

You guessed it! Volumes! I've drawn some examples of body parts but these can be used for absolutely anything, from motorcycles to mountains to coffee mugs

Tip I couldn't figure out how to include: I often flesh out my shapes w/ crosshairs/'seams' to give them depth. You can see them throughout these sketches

Proportions, of course, go hand in hand with anatomy

Ironically this one isn't my most proportionate work but it'll do. That bottom right box is a bit too vague, basically I keep track of my proportions by constantly comparing he length of the body parts I draw to a preexisting one, like 'hey these legs look too short, how are they compared to the torso'

Now, the examples I drew here aren't super great cause by this point I was getting a bit tired but they are a v important way I apply all of this!

By the way, on the topic of references, I recommend using them by breaking them down into shapes! Sometimes you can even redline [aka constructively trace] the reference itself and then use that knowledge to draw something similar

One last bit, this isn't rlly a tutorial bc I couldn't figure out how to explain it [they're just shaped like That in my mind] so I drew a page of legs instead gdkdhkddhjd I love drawing legs so much

The calf,, kind does the swOOP,, on the back and outer side,, n the thighs like bend,, like any joint knees are vaguely spherical,, they're fun to pose,, I drew mostly the same body type but they'll vary based on that,, yea

If I have time I'll try to make some more, esp on hair and shading/lighting, the next most requested ones. Thanks so much you guys!! I hope this is helpful! If so or not don't be afraid to give me feedback
