The cats of MeadowClan lifted their heads nervously and perked their ears as an eerie whistle cut through the air.

Their leader, Lightningstar, leapt onto Callrock from where she'd been sitting with Beetlefur, the medicine cat. She narrowed her eyes and she looked closely at the sky, trying to detect any source of the disturbing noise.

Her yellow eyes widened when she saw the strange change of weather. The air had become very still, the wind dying down to nothing. But perhaps the scariest change was the wall of clouds approaching; and the dark, greenish sky above her.

"Everyone, gather!" she yowled, fear clear in her tone. The Clan members must have also seen the switch, as they quickly swarmed around Callrock with fearful gazes and bristling pelts. Lightningstar kept her head high.

"Whitewhisker, Featherpounce, Emberstrike! Take your apprentices to the woods." she addressed the three mentors with a twitching tail-tip, "And Appleflower, Bumblepelt! Take your kits and the elders with them. I want all injured, sick, or weak cats taken to the forest immediately!"

The queens, kits, elders, mentors and apprentices all gathered into a group and started out of camp. Lightningstar's gaze scanned the remaining cats, "Everyone else, I want you to follow my orders directly. Do not ignore my words! I have seen this before. It is extremely dangerous. The twolegs' whistle and weather changes always come as the first signs."

The warriors stiffened and glanced at the sky again. The sky's wailing still went on.

"I want all of you to grab as much prey and herbs as you can. Don't waste time gathering next material, there is plenty where we'll go." she then hopped down, watching her warriors get to work while she followed Beetlefur into his den.

"I can't believe this is happening again," the old medicine cat grumbled, eyes wide as moons with fear. Lightningstar ran her tail along his side. The last time a wind-monster came, Beetlefur lost his mother, father, and brother. All three had been hunting when it struck. Lightningstar had been a young kit and was brought to the forest, a safe-haven from the terrible storm.

Lightningstar, Beetlefur, and a few warriors gathered up the herbs in the den quickly. A panicked air filled the camp as the remaining Clan cats came together, Lightningstar twitching her tail for them to leave.

As the group neared the woods, a strong wind began to pick up and horror filled Lightningstar. She scampered into the forest with her warriors behind her. They soon located the rest of the Clan, gathered into an old, large badger's den. It had been used for shelter before during a time when a lone coyote took over the moor for a moon.

Lightningstar made sure everyone was secure inside before situating herself at the front of the den. Beetlefur crouched beside her, eyes dull and half-closed as he and her watched the sky through the trees. It had become very dark and cloudy, a loud wind sweeping through the canopy and stirring the few loose leaves.

   Soon, the wind-monster arrived.

They could hear it's destruction even from their haven. The winds screamed, and they could detect grass being ripped from the earth. Many times Lightningstar feared it would chase after them into the woodland, but it never happened. Finally, after what seemed like gernations, the world grew still again. The moon was starting to rise now.

The Clan finally began to emerge shortly after. They started back to their moorland home, moving slowly and cautiously. When they arrived, the cats were more than devestated.

Their camp was a hollow of mud and torn fronds. The land they called their territory had ripped-up grass and broken earth, like a huge cat came and raked their claws through the area.

Lightningstar sighed. Their recovery would take a long time.
