about how scar x zira came to be

so scar (taka at the time) was always the smaller brother. The weaker brother. The dumber brother. Mufasa was the great future King with a legacy laid out before him, with dozens of lionesses to chose from for a Queen, while Taka was shoved to the back and basically ignored. He soon began to wander close to the borders, and one day met a struggling mother named Zira.

   Zira had two cubs: Vitani and Nuka. Neither were healthy, and Nuka was riddled with fleas. Taka offered to help the lioness, figuring he might be able to claim her as his mate and brag to Mufasa about finding a mate first.

   Zira accepted the offer gratefully. They agreed to meet up every night, when Taka could sneak out and grab food for Zira and her cubs. It was the perfect plan.

   That was until Taka realized he had grown feelings for the mysterious lioness. Not exactly feelings, just the idea that if he got cubs first and presented Zira to his parents, perhaps they would instead appoint him King. He would finally be better than Mufasa.

   And so that night while he brought Zira and her cubs (who had grown quite a bit), he offered Zira the role as Queen of the Pridelands. She was overjoyed and agreed immediately, even though she would have to promise to bear his cub as the future heir.

   A while later, Taka and Mufasa got into an argument. Mufasa had found out about Taka and Zira's meetings, and as a punishment he struck Taka across the eye and gave him the terrible nickname of Scar. He lied to their parents about a lone lion battling Scar during a walk.

   Shortly after, Scar fled to Zira, living with her for a while. She gave birth to a strong little lion who they named Kovu, and since Scar had promised this cub to their heir, they began to ignore the other two.

   Scar did eventually return to the Pridelands, though. He kept his affair and cub and secret, and well, you all know where it goes from there.
