i still couldn't afford the flowers.
but i had options.
gripping the lunch box in my hand, i knocked on the door.
it swung open, and behind it, olivia looked at me with her curious blue eyes.
"what's that?" she inquired, nodding towards the object i was hiding behind my back.
"we're going on a picnic."
"we are? i'm not dressed for this."
she gestured to her pull over sweater and her black sweatpants covered in an animal's fur.
i smiled.
"i can wait."
she rolled her beautiful eyes, and pulled the door back, gesturing for me to come in.
i passed her and set myself on the couch that belonged in the 1970's.
nonetheless, i was comfortable.
what felt like the shortest period of time ever passed like a cloud covering the sun.
olivia walked out from the hallway.
i stood up immediately and my jaw fell.
her hair was pushed back into a braid, a few pieces framing her heart shaped face.
she wore a navy blue long sleeve shirt and a pair of leggings.
olivia looked down, obviously embarrassed with my staring.
not wanting to make her more uncomfortable, i looked away and then looked back to see she was looking at me.
"blue matches your eyes."
"excuse me?"
"the blue shirt, it matches your eyes," i stumbled.
she gave me a relaxed smile.
my heart leapt out of my throat.
"let's go, cole,"she said, dragging me from my thoughts.
i nodded and followed her, even though she had no idea where we were going.
