Green Eyes

(Sorry for such a long wait-- I was wondering if I should complete this)

It was just a normal day...... other than the black figure roaming the streets. He followed the students to and from school, making people avoid him to their best extent. He was intimidating- and carried an aura of power. His deep green eyes, they flitted around the area, glowing despite the cloud of black covering his features. People stayed away, probably sensing the intimidation coming off of him. He was here to finish a duty, and wouldn't stop.

"Jayde! Get your ancetgry up before I drag you out of my myself!", I heard my sister yelling. I huffed, and rolled off of my small cot on the floor. I went to my small dresser, looking at the watch I had on it. Almost time for school. Great.

I buckle the watch onto my right wrist and proceed to brush through my messy brown hair. It was generally straight and wavy, but right now looked like a rat's nest.

I put a contact in my right eye to cover the heterochromia. I blink away the pain from it as my sister yells up at me again, bursting into my room. "Geez it takes you a long time."

I smile sheepishly. Her impatience was such a common thing to me. She was fast paced, I was slow. But for me, I was able to do the more quote-on-quote 'masculine' things compared to her, such as fighting and labor.

She goes to my closet, dragging clothing out for me to wear. She's dressed in a light blue airy top and a pair of tight elastic pants to help her move easily. She was also a dancer, taking classes for it at the small aburgal we attended.

Our country consisted of four main countries. What used to be known as North America, South America, Asia, Africa, Australia, Europe, Antarctica, are now known as this:

Africa:  Zsófia

North America: Tamás

Asia: Vitória

Europe: Miloš

South America: Máté

Antarctica: Frostine

Australia: Phoenix

Anyway, we live in Vitória, where the weather is either very rainy or very dusty, not really a huge in-between. We lived in the dusty areas, so I tended to wear a form of cloth we called a Drieke, which in Vitorian, means dust cover basically. It's made of light, waterproof material that's tightly packed together and normal comes with patterns. The waterproof fabric makes it good to wear when rainy season starts, and it's so tightly packed together that it helps keep sand out of hair and off of skin.

I get myself dressed into a pair of black elastic pants, a pair of boots meant to keep out sand and gravel, a white shirt, and my Drieke. I walk out of my small room and to the kitchen, my mother putting toast onto napkins for us to take as we walk to the aburgal.

I kiss my mother on the cheek, thanking her for breakfast and I pick up the toast. Now it's my turn to yell at my sister to get her ancentgry into the kitchen. She comes bounding into the room, her blonde hair shining as I picked up her slice of toast and handed it to her. My mother kissed my sister on the cheek.

"Alright. Jayde, watch your sister", she said, and I nodded in my reply. We waved and took off out the door, walking against the hot sharp wind that started as I pulled my Drieke closer to me. I ate my toast and tucked my napkin into my pocket.

Vivian, my dear sister, followed me as I walked. She bounced with almost every step, and I grinned to myself. She was still one of the only things that could get me to smile.

We walked away from our small house in the dust to the center city. The pavement was crowded in dust as well, but you could slightly see the red brick peaking out. I caught a group of young men about my age eyeing my sister. I gave them my best glare, and they shuddered away, looking like they had just seen a spirit. I gave myself a pat on the back for that. I had perfected my glare for a few years, since my sister had first started getting looks.

"Jaaayydddeee slow dowwwnnn", Vivian complained behind me. I realized I was walking fast.

"Sorry Vivie, I had some stuff on my mind", I say as I slow down to join her speed, smiling a bit. She shrugged as we kept walking. I thought of what I might be working on today.

I work with a caravan. It wasn't the season, and the desert was too hot and full of enemies to travel yet, but when it came to Winter and Autumn, I would be on the road again for work. I did trading and I was a tracker for it. I would either hunt animals, people, or other things. I was never wrong on which direction things were. I would also fight off said enemies. My job was a dangerous one, and I worked with all types of equipment to get out enemies.

The enemies were what we called Ivorski they were large, faceless creatures that stalked you on in the dark. They feared the light, but traveling in a caravan at dark made it a scary thing. They crawled out of the sand, fast and light on their feet. If they caught you, it's said that they drag your brain through what feels like eternities of suffering while they suck out you soul, and they they rip apart your body with their long claw-like fingers. They were alabaster, and they're eyes were completely black, their teeth sharp canines, their tongue long, and their nose were slits in their face, just under the eyes. They weren't a daydream to deal with either.

We finally got to the aburgal, and I split up to my classes for fighting and trade, and Vivian went to her classes for dance and embroidery. That black figure was still watching me, his green eyes hiding beneath his hood. Outside the dust-covered window, where his eyes could seek me out. God, my world was gonna change soon.
