Round One—Begin!

After Ash registered for the Indigo League, he ended up on the Water Field & was up against a Trainer named Mandi. When it was time for the match.

"Now, for the third battle on the Water Field." The announcer said "On the green side, we have newcomer Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town & on the red side, we have Mandi the Astounding, a Pokémon League favorite. What will Ash do as he faces one of the most popular Pokémon Trainers known for his exciting battle style?"

"It's showtime, Go Exeggutor." Mandi said as he sent out an Exeggutor

"Let's do this, Meowzie, I choose you!" Ash said

"Meowth." Meowzie said as she entered the battlefield

"Mandi chooses Exeggutor while Ash commences with his Meowth." The announcer said

"This'll be Meowzie's first battle." Misty said

"Let's see how she does." Brock said

"Exeggutor, use Seed Bomb." Mandi said. Exeggutor fired multiple glowing green explosives seeds from its mouth.

"Meowzie, use Detect." Ash said.

"Meow." Meowzie said as her eyes glowed light blue for a moment & dodged the attack

"Now, use Shadow Ball." Ash said. Meowzie fired a black & purple ball of shadow energy from her hands & hit Exeggutor

"Use Psychic." Mandi said

"Tor." Exeggutor said as its eyes glowed light blue & telekinetically lifted Meowzie in the air

"Use Screech." Ash said

"MEOOOOOOW!" Meowzie screeched as white shockwaves came out of her mouth which caused Exeggutor to wince & let go of her.

"Hypnosis." Mandi said. Exeggutor's eyes glowed pinkish purple & released waves of energy

"Go underwater." Ash said as Meowzie dived into the water & avoided the attack

"Use Egg Bomb." Mandi said. Exeggutor fired multiple golden egg-shaped balls of light into the water

Meowzie dodged the attack & swam up out of the water behind Exeggutor

"Now, use Shadow Claw." Ash said. Meowzie's arm became surrounded by black claw-shaped aura & hit Exeggutor which caused it to faint

"Exeggutor is unable to battle, Meowth wins." The referee declared

"Exeggutor return." Mandi said as he returned "I'm quite impressed, but your luck has run out. Go Seadra."

Mandi sent out a Seadra.

"Seadra." Seadra said as Ash pulled out his Pokédex

Seadra, the Dragon Pokémon, & the evolved form of Horsea. It is capable of swimming backwards by rapidly flapping its wing-like pectoral fins and stout tail. Touching the back fin causes numbness & It hooks its tail to coral to stay in place while sleeping.

"Meowzie return." Ash said as Meowzie came back to Ash "Squirtle, I choose you!"

Ash sent out his Squirtle.

"Squirtle!" Squirtle said

"Interesting choice, but it is no match for my Seadra's speed." Mandi said "Use Agility."

Seadra swam towards Squirtle at fast speed

"Then how about this?" Ash said "Squirtle, Aura Sphere."

"Squiiiiiirt." Squirtle said as he charged up a blue ball of aura between his hands

"Now, fire!" Ash said

"Squirtle!" Squirtle said as he fired the Aura Sphere & hit Seadra

"What!" Mandi said shockingly

"Now, Ice Punch." Ash said. Squirtle's fist became surrounded by icy blue aura & punched Seadra which caused it to faint.

"Seadra is unable to battle, Squirtle wins." The referee declared

"& Seadra is out cold by Squirtle's Ice Punch." The announcer said "Looks like Ash is on his way to victory."

"Wow, Ash is doing great on his own." Misty said surprisingly

"Yeah, thanks to him getting serious & training his Pokémon." Brock said

"Seadra return." Mandi said as he returned Seadra "You are really trying my patience. Now let's see how you handle this. Go Golbat."

Mandi sent out at Golbat.

"Golbat." Golbat said as Ash pulled out his Pokédex

Golbat, the Bat Pokémon, & the evolved form of Zubat. Golbat bites down on prey with its four fangs and drinks the victim's blood. It becomes active on inky dark moonless nights, flying around to attack people and Pokémon.

"Squirtle, return." Ash said as he returned Squirtle "Hey Mandi, here's a Pokémon that's really astounding. Psyduck, I choose you!"

Ash sent out his Shiny Psyduck

"Psyduck." Psyduck quacked as everyone was surprised & amazed

"Incredible, Ash has chosen a Psyduck with a shiny color!" The announcer said in amazement

"Psyduck, use Water Gun." Ash said. Psyduck released a stream of water from her mouth

"Golbat, dodge it & use Poison Fang." Mandi said as Golbat dodged the attack, then its teeth glowed purple, created teeth-like aura, & charged at Psyduck

"Go underwater." Ash said as Psyduck dived underwater & dodged the attack "Now, use Shadow Claw."

Psyduck came out of the water behind Golbat with her arm surrounded by black claw-shaped aura

"Use Aerial Ace." Mandi said as Golbat disappeared

"Psy?" Psyduck said confusingly

Golbat reappeared behind Psyduck, became surrounded by light blue streaks & hit her.

"Are you alright?"" Ash asked

"Psyduck." Psyduck said as she got up

"Now, use Wing Attack." Mandi said. Golbat's wings glowed light blue & charged at Psyduck

"Use Ice Punch." Ash said. Psyduck's fist became surrounded by icy blue aura & clashed with Golbat

The Ice Punch began to freeze a small part of Golbat's wing, when they backed away from each other, it had trouble flying

"Now's our chance, use Water Pulse." Ash said. Psyduck fired a blue orb of water from her hands & hit Golbat

"Mega Drain." Mandi said. Golbat forms a medium-sized ball of light green energy from its mouth which shoots a beam, & hits Psyduck causing some of her energy to get drained

"It's over." Mandi smirked.

"Psyduck!" Psyduck quacked in determination as she was still standing

"Huh?" Mandi said confusingly

"That's right, it's gonna take more than that to get us down." Ash smiled

"DUUUUCK!" Psyduck quacked as she glowed bluish white & evolved into a dark blue duck-like Pokémon with red eyes, a peach-colored beak, & a red gem in the center of her forehead.

"Golduck!" she said

"Awesome." Ash said as he pulled out his Pokédex

Golduck, the Duck Pokémon, & the evolved form of Psyduck. Golduck is the fastest swimmer among all Pokémon. It swims effortlessly, even in a rough, stormy sea. It sometimes rescues people from wrecked ships floundering in high seas.

Learned Moves: Hydro Pump, Psychic, Blizzard, & Calm Mind

"Alright, Golduck use Blizzard." Ash said. Golduck released a powerful blizzard from her beak & hit Golbat which caused it to faint

"Golbat is unable to battle, Golduck wins. So the victory goes to Ash of Pallet Town." The referee declared

"& it's over, Newcomer Ash Ketchum has claimed a stunning victory in his first match by an Evolution." The announcer said

"We did it, Golduck." Ash said as he hugged Golduck

"Golduck." Golduck said happily as she hugged him back

"Ash won & he did it all on his own." Misty smiled

"Yeah, no doubt he's gonna go far." Brock agreed
