Horror time! >:D

Tw: Blood, death, gore.

"Two."

Hunter 'tsked', shaking his head.

"Three."

Crosshair rolled his eyes. "Those stupid Kaminoans don't know what they're doing."

"Five."

Omega's lip trembled as she stared up at Hunter. "Will they fix it soon?"

"Eight."

Hunter squeezed Omega's hand reassuringly. "I'm sure they will."

"Twelve," Tech said, brow furrowed as he read his datapad. "This is becoming unsettling."

"That's a lot of bodies," Wrecker commented, a frown engraved into his face. "Is someone gonna find the killer?"

"How are they finding them all now?" Hunter questioned, running a hand through his hair. "Surely they would've noticed the missing Kaminoans."

Tech shrugged. "Perhaps they did but didn't want to alarm anyone, choosing to keep it a secret. In any case, the bodies are turning up."

Nala Se slowly glided into their room, a panicked look on her face. "You are being given an urgent mission. I assume you've heard of the twelve bodies?"

"Fourteen," Tech corrected, holding up his datapad. He smiled sheepishly as Nala Se glared at him. "My apologies. Continue."

"They were found in a part of Kamino that had been closed for construction. They seemed at least a week old." Nala Se glanced at Hunter. "We need you to find whoever is responsible for killing all of these Kaminoans, with your enhancements."

"Do you have any idea of who it may be?" Tech questioned. He glanced at Hunter through his yellow tinted lenses. "To give us a hint as to where to search?"

"We suspect a clone. We all know how much you resent us." Nala Se glowered at them for a moment before softening her gaze as she stared at Omega. "We suspect it may be one who feels they might've been mistreated."

"We'll handle it." Hunter nodded and stood up, walking with Nala Se to the door. As soon as they were out of the others' earshot, he said, "Is anyone else in danger?"

Nala Se blinked in surprise. "Of course. Thirty clones have been killed."

"Why hasn't anyone been told?" Hunter hissed. "Thirty men have died!"

Nala Se looked confused. "Does it matter? There are thousands of clones. There are not thousands of us."

"So someone on Kamino is killing clones and Kaminoans?" Hunter lowered his voice as Crosshair looked over, suspicion in his gaze.

"Yes." Nala Se nodded, bobbing her head up and down. "Find the killer, or we all may die."

Hunter pinched the bridge of his nose. "So there's a serial killer on the loose, and you haven't started looking for them yet?"

"Yes. What done you understand about this?" Nala Se sighed. "I have to go now. They want me to do an autopsy. They believe the victims have been shot, but need me to confirm."

"It needs to be confirmed by a doctor that they've been shot?" Hunter rubbed at his forehead.

Nala Se didn't bother answering and walked off.

Hunter put his hands on his hips and faced the others. "Alright, we have a killer to find."

"How are we to accomplish such a feat with zero clues?" Tech asked. He tucked his datapad away, getting to his feet.

"I don't know." Hunter pursed his lips before shaking his head. "There's been clones killed as well."

"Huh?" Wrecker frowned. "Are we in danger then?"

"It seems anyone could be the next victim." Tech crouched down, letting Omega clamber onto his back. He strolled to the front door, giving her a ride. "We have to hurry."

"We should wait a bit." Crosshair crossed his arms. "Let them get a few more Kaminoans."

"And more clones?" Hunter raised an eyebrow. He followed Tech out the door. "Let's go drop Omega off with Rex while we do this."

"I can't come?" Omega pouted.

"This is dangerous, Omega," Hunter said, ruffling her hair. "But you can stay and have fun with Rex."

"But I want to help!" Omega whined, burying her face into the back of Tech's neck.

"Not this time," Hunter said firmly. "It's too dangerous."

Omega grumbled, but remained silent.

They all walked to Rex's quarters, discussing possible suspects. Wrecker enthusiastically knocked on Rex's door, barging in as soon as it opened.

"What can I do for you?" Rex asked as they all entered his room. "I doubt you're visiting just for the heck of it."

"We need you to watch Omega," Hunter told him. "Nala Se needs us to find a murderer."

Rex's eyebrows went up in shock and he nearly dropped the blaster he was cleaning. "A murderer? Do... do you know who it is?"

"We'll find 'em!" Wrecker exclaimed, smashing his fists together. He smiled widely at Rex, who looked taken aback at his enthusiasm.

"Of course." Rex lifted Omega from Tech's back, gently setting her down on the floor. "I'll watch after her for you boys."

"Have you heard anything about it?" Hunter fiddled with the knife on his forearm. "We don't have any clues or evidence."

Rex pressed his lips together into a thin line. "Sorry, I haven't. How are you going to find the killer then?"

"Probably go to where the bodies were found and seeing if I can tack them." Hunter shrugged. He ran a hand through his hair with a heavy sigh. "We should hurry before anyone else dies."

"Perhaps we should check the security footage," Tech suggested, adjusting his goggles.

"Good idea," Hunter hummed. "Let's split up and do both. Wrecker and Crosshair, check the footage. Tech, you're with me."

Omega stared up at them with big eyes. "Stay safe."

Hunter chuckled. "Of course, kid. We always do."

"Forty-three were killed in total. All were shot. The blaster wounds are the same size on each body."

Hunter knelt down next to the puddle of red blood on the otherwise white ground. "So it could've been the same weapon for each of the murders?"

Tech frowned, looking up from the file he had been handed. "I suppose so. Why?"

"Would this many shots leave evidence on the weapon?" Hunter questioned.

"It's possible that there would be traces of scoring on the blaster. Maybe blood as well," Tech responded. "Ah, I see what you're getting at."

"If we find the murder weapon," Hunter began.

"We find the killer," Tech finished, a glint in his eyes. "Brilliant."

"I'm glad you approve," Hunter said, rolling his eyes. "But it's not like we can inspect everyone's blaster."

Tech shifted his belt so his own blasters weren't in view as much. "I suppose not."

Hunter placed his hand on a section of the floor that had scorch marks. "Any word from the others yet?"

"It appears that the cameras in the closed section of Kamino didn't have functioning cameras. The footage from the nearest working camera only had a flash of white plastics armour on it," Tech answered, showing Hunter his datapad, where his messages with Crosshair were pulled up.

"Interesting. So it was a clone," Hunter said, furrowing his brow.

Tech rubbed one of his pistols with the back of his hand, seemingly attempting to remove a mark. "It appears so."

"I'll see if I can sense anything. You keep asking people if they've seen anything," Hunter ordered, standing upright.

"Affirmative," Tech responded, watching through his goggles as Hunter walked away.

A small smile formed at the corners of his lips, and his fingers drummed at his side, where his twin pistols rested. "Hunter."

Hunter paused, turning around. "Yeah?"

"There were shots in rapid succession." Tech ran his hand along the wall, where the marks were. "Whoever is responsible for this has more than one blaster."

Hunter slowly nodded and continued walking away.

"More bodies have turned up. I thought you were handling this?" Nala Se stared down at Hunter in disappointment.

"We just need more time," Hunter said. "We already have a couple of clues."

Nala Se narrowed her eyes. "We may not have a lot of time. There have been forty-four deaths so far."

"Hunter, I finished asking the questions, and no one saw anything that would qualify as suspicious," Tech said as he ran up to the pair.

"Excuse me, ma'am." Hunter turned away from Nala Se and went down the hallway with Tech.

"No one saw anything," Tech repeated, adjusting his goggles.

"No one?" Hunter sighed. "We've got our work cut out for us."

"What do we do next?" Crosshair asked as he approached, Wrecker trailing behind him.

"We think about what we know so far." Hunter buried his hand in his hair as he thought. "What clues do we have?"

"Their blaster would've been filthy," Tech reminded him.

Someone cleaning a blaster.

"They wore white armour," Wrecker said.

A flash of white armour.

"Didn't you say they had two blasters?" Crosshair frowned.

Two twin pistols.

Hunter gasped in horror. "I know who did it."

"Who?" Wrecker eagerly asked.

"Tech," Hunter bitterly said, rounding on his goggled brother.

Tech's eyes widened. "Me?"

"It all adds up." Hunter was speaking quickly now as everything hit him. "You were cleaning your blaster as we investigated the scene. You wear white armour. You carry twin pistols."

Crosshair pinned Tech to the floor, grabbing his arms and holding them behind his back. Tech struggled in his hole, shouting, "I didn't do it!"

Tech was dragged away and thrown into a cell, armour stripped from him, and weapons confiscated.

"Why, Tech," Wrecker sadly said, "why?"

"We have to break the news to Omega," Crosshair muttered, blinking back tears.

They silently returned to Rex's quarters, each thinking on how to tell their blonde sister that Tech was a murderer.

"Omega, we found the killer," Hunter choked out as they entered. "It-It was Tech."

They heard a whimper come from further in the room.

"So you know it was me?"

Rex stepped into the light, his blaster's held at the back of Omega's head. Omega's eyes were filled with tears, her eyes red and puffy.

"Rex." Hunter's hand went to his knife sheath. "What are you doing?"

"You found the killer," Rex pressed the blaster against Omega's skull, "so you know it was me."

His white armour jostled as he lunged shoved Omega to the ground. Omega shrieked as her hands fell forwards to catch herself.

"You're the killer?" Crosshair's eyes narrowed into slits.

Rex tilted his head. "So you didn't know?"

"I'm confused," Wrecker confessed.

"I killed those Kaminoans!" Rex spat out. "They deserved what came their way!"

"Why?" Hunter demanded. "I get why you killed the Kaminoans, they're monsters, but why did you kill all those clones."

"They saw me do it and tried to stop me," Rex calmly said, looking at Omega affectionately. "And the Kaminoans hurt us. They hurt our brothers, and our sister."

Omega's shoulders shook as she sobbed. "H-help!"

Rex hit the back of her head with the butt of his blaster. "Shut up!"

Omega went limp, blood trickling down her neck.

"Get away from her!" Wrecked angrily shouted.

Rex raised his weapon and pointed it at Wrecker. "Step back before you end up like the others."

"Dead?" Crosshair stepped forward. "So you admit you killed them?"

"I already did!" Rex furiously yelled. "I already admitted it! But it wasn't my fault!"

Then the weight of what he'd done seemed to hit him.

"It wasn't my fault," Rex murmured, sinking to his knees next to Omega. He stroked her hair. "It wasn't my fault."

He twitched as a stun ray enveloped him.

Hunter lowered his blaster. "At least Tech is innocent."
