He felt like all of his bones had broken.

He was wheezing, dying.

It was dark. It was cold. It was a very, very deep ravine.

Monsters ignored him. They knew he was as good as gone.

He couldn't cry out. He couldn't even cry. Wolves can't cry.

He couldn't shift back. He couldn't talk, couldn't walk.

He was slowly numbing.

His breath was getting shorter.

His heart was getting slower.

At least he could see his best friend again.

He missed her.

Something red was spilling out from his shoulder. It's metallic smell made him want to flinch.

But it would be agony. Agony, agony, agony.

Then he saw light. He saw her.

Sammy, Sammy, Sammy. She chided. What have you done to yourself?

She knelt down beside him, an angel in the dark. Kloe.

She was light.

Sammy...

He managed to raise his paw a tiny bit, but even that was excruciating.

I can take you out the painless way, Sammy. Sammy, do you want to come now?

He nodded. He was numb.

She gave him a small smile, a small sad smile. She held out her hand.

He put his paw in her hand.

And then...

And then he was free.
