For readers.

Readers first, sorry authors though I'm sure you'll agree with most of these.

If you want a story to keep on going support the author but there is a fine line between supporting and ordering the author about.

For example: Update! < this doesn't give any useful information except maybe your excited and want the story to progress quickly. Personally I don't really mind yet I know some authors who will see it as rude or annoying.

Another example: This was a great update! < supportive you could also ask for another update politely: can't wait for the next update. This shows your more invested in the story and gives the author more to work off of. They know you liked the update and you excited for the next. Also much more polite.

Then some readers. My god are they supportive. They will give you feedback and help you out etc. Now you don't have to go to this length just saying I'm sure if your one of these readers you highly appreciated.

OK I know it's fun to binge read stories. Yet once you've got to the last update you're too use to having one chapter after another and personally after that I can't enjoy it as much. If there is a really good story try and treat yourself read a chapter a day or something, space it out. Savor a good story

When people never update their stories. Yes it sucks, yes the story was really good, yup it was last updated a year ago. The best thing to do after this is find another good story that's the same theme but make sure it's been recently updated and make sure if you enjoy it to keep the author and story afloat.

Cliffhangers. OK I know most readers hate these as they leave you wondering. This is a trick most author use it make you want to read on and find out what happens next. Sometimes authors will leave clues to what's happened before the cliffhangers so if you desperately wanting to know look carefully for clues.
