Neil came up to his room after some time. Avni was folding up the blankets which both of them messed up during their silly talks the previous night. Her hair was falling to frontside exposing her bare back of which Neil couldn't take his eyes off. Suddenly the one hook of her blouse opened up and Avni clasped her hands to her back. She still hadn't noticed Neil standing in the doorway. Avni was struggling to close the hook with her bandaged hands and Neil moved forward stealthily. He held the hook with his hands and started tracing his fingers as if he was doing nothing deliberately. She flinched and raised her shoulders lost in what she was going through. She wanted to speak but words didn't dare to come out. Unknowingly, she took a step back and rested her head on his shoulders leaning backwards with eyes closed. Neil closed the hook slowly and circled his hands around her waist. He bent his head and kissed her in the nape of her neck. He left trails of kisses up her ears and buried his face in her hair to breathe in heavily. He spun her around and kissed her forehead. Her hands were now clenching tightly onto his collars. She didn't even care about her injury.

Neil: Avni...
Avni: hmm?
Neil: tum kyun beech me aayi Avni?
Avni: kyunki...

He kissed both of her eyes, tip of her nose, her red cheeks and her chin.
Neil: kyunki?
Avni: kynki shayad..

Neil pulled her closer.
Neil: hmm? Aage bhi bolo..

Avni stepped forward and climbed onto him with both of her feet placed over his feet. No space was left between them. Neil held her even tighter and brushed her cheeks with his. Avni felt his short facial hairs caressing her and never wanted this moment to pass.

Avni: kyunki shayad mujhe.. mujhe tumhe kuch bathana hai.

Neil loosened his grip and looked at her. She slowly opened her eyes. The answer to all her questions was right infront of her, infact so close to her and she was this late to find this out.

Avni: I have found the answer to all my questions.

Neil: aur?

Avni: aur mere saare sawalon ka jawab bas ek hi hai.. just one single answer.

Neil: and what is the answer?

Avni: tum..

Neil: han main?

Avni: tum hi jawab ho Neil. The answer to all my questions is you. ACP Neil Khanna.

Neil's eyes filled with tears which rolled down his cheeks. Avni who stood on his feet went closer to kiss those most precious teardrops. Neil looked at her as if he is exploring her soul.

Avni: Neil... I don't want to lose you. The fear of losing you comes above everything. That is the reason why I didn't think before rushing to save you. Growing from being strangers to friends with you is the most amazing memory I ever had. But now you have become my habit. A habit that I am so addicted to. A habit that I cannot get rid of and I don't even want to. I love what this habit is doing to me. I love how it drives me mad. I love when it gives me goosebumps. A habit that makes me feel emotions that I can't even put into words. A habit which is now forcing me to confess something that I have never dreamt of. A habit which starts and ends with you because..

Neil couldn't take it any longer.
Neil: because I love you..

Avni smiled through her tears.
Neil: repeat karo..

Avni: because I love you.. I really do.

Their vision blurred due to tears of happiness that formed in their eyes. They hugged each other wishing for time to stay still at this moment. They were finally going to live together with mutual consent. They finally knew why they were together after all odds. Because they themselves wanted to.
