Neil's birthday was something avni had been waiting for. She had a bunch of plans to make sure she could make the day special for her husband. And she was very excited that the day was finally coming tomm. And it was a weekend and Neil was going to be at home. She had originally wanted to have a party at home with their family but unfortunately they all had a wedding to attend and avni Neil decided to stay at home. But now she was glad that it was just the two of them. She crept out of bed with great difficulty at 4am! She wriggled out of his hold on her, covered him with the comforter and slowly crept out of their room taking care to shut it behind her. This was the first time avni had willingly woken up this early. She was not a morning person at all but today she was so excited that she hadn't even slept well. She had woken up every hour literally to check the time! She couldn't risk the alarm going off and spoiling Neil's surrprise by waking him up. Finally it was time . She headed down to the kitchen.and got to work- baking the chocolate cake which she had finally perfected to Neil's taste after 2 whole weeks of prep. She had found time after work and had made neela taste several cakes before she managed to get it done perfectly. She didn't want to take any chances for her husband's cake. She made the cake mixture with great love and care and added extra chocolate chips just like he liked it. Once she had put it in the oven, she prepared an icing mixture. Next she prepared a fresh coffee decoctionOnce the cake was done she did the icing and set it aside. And it was already 530. She got to work on breakfast making toast and scrambled eggs. And next she made aloo paratha which was Neil's fav. And last but not the least she made him a cup of perfectly brewed coffee with a little smiley face in it. She got a large tray placed the cake and breakfast items on it and headed upstairs. She left the breakfast items in the adjacent guest room and quietly went back into their room. She crept back into bed to find him still sound asleep. She debated letting him sleep in but then decided that she was too excited. So she placed a small peck on his forehead and caressed his hair softly. Neil sensed her presence and smiled still in sleep. Avni bent and whispered in his ear...happy birthday Neil! And gave him another kiss on his cheek. Neil pulled her closer and tightened his hold on her. Avni- Neil utho na pleaseNeil- nahi. Aaj Mera bday Hai. Toh Meri marzi. Vaise bhi it's super early. How are u even awake at this hour.Avni - please Neil. Utho na. Maine ek surprise plan kiya Hai. It's ur bday na! Neel sat up in bed still holding her, his eyes now open on hearing her say surpriseAvni- chodo na, tabhi toh leke aasakti hoonNeil - releasing her with a pout- jaldi aao. She literally sprung off the bed and skipped out of the room. Neel just grinned as he watched her leave. Clearly she was far more excited than him about his bday! And when she came back 2 mins later, a waft of mouthwatering aroma flooded his nose. To say he was shocked would be an understatement. She stood there with a tray that had his fav stuff and a cake.She placed it on the bed and said. Aaj tumhaara bday Hai toh breakfast in bed. Chalo pahle cake kaato.Neel looked down to see his fav chocolate cake. It looked really good but the icing which read happy bday Neil was a little smudged and then he realised that this was not from the store but had been made by his wife! avnifollowed his line of sight and sheepishly said...sorry voh itna professional nahi Hai but I'm sure taste thik hoga. Neel- perfect lag raha Hai! Tumne mere liye cake khud bake kiya! I can't believe it. Avni- accha Chalo cake kaato to sahi. She put a small candle and lit it . Make a wish.Neel- (I hope avni always stays happy) and blew the candle. He cut a piece and avni picked it up and held it up for him to taste.Neel- took a bite and he was shocked. It was SO good! The chocolate just melting into his mouth and it was still warm, fresh from the oven! Avni- anxiously- kaise bana Hai?Neel - it's amazing wifey ! Yeh toh bakery se bhi better Hai! And gave her a bite of the cake too. Avni - thank God thik se ban Gaya. Accha coffee, paratha aur eggs bhi try KaroNeel dug into the breakfast and found that everything was perfectly made as per his specifications.He held avnis hand and kissed it. It's all perfect wifey just like you.Avni looked like she just won the lottery! Neel fed her breakfast too and once they were done she cleared up the plates and headed down to put them in the kitchen. Meanwhile neels phone rang. Neela ma was calling. Ma- happy birthday bacchaNeel thank you maMa- toh breakfast aur cake kaisa bana?Neel aapko pata Tha? Ma- Haan tumhari pagal biwi do hafton se mujhe pe hi experiment Kar rahi thi. She giggled...avni ne kaha ki tumhaare bday pe sab perfect banna chahiye !Neel - was overwhelmed hearing this- his wifey was truly amazing. She had learnt and practised baking and cooking paratha n eggs just for him and just the way he liked it. She had never cooked anything except poha in her life but she was learning now and that too all his fav dishes. Last month she had surprised him with bhindi, matar paneer and pulao. And now this. He could see with her every action, how much she loved him. She was not good with words, she was not very expressive but Neel realised that with avni her actions spoke louder than words. Neela- Kahan kho Gaye??Neil nahi kuch nahi. Thank you aapne subah subah wish karne ke lite phone kiya.Ma- humesha khush raho. And happy birthday once again. Tum apni wifey ke saath enjoy Karo. ByeNeel hung up with a smile on his face.And that smile only grew bigger when avni walked back in. He pulled her onto him and gave her a kiss.Thank you wifey. Mujhe bahut accha laga tumhaara surprise. Avni- I'm glad. But abhi aur bhi Hai. Chalo ready ho jao. I'll keep out clothes for you to wearNeil- Jo hukum Mrs KhannaAvni - laid out new clothes and shoes that she had bought. And also a brand new watchWhen Neel got out of the shower he was surprised to see all the goodies! He was surprised that his wife's taste was so good given that she had never shopped for a guy ever! She always picked out stuff that he'd like and he was surprised at how much in sync she was with him. He wore the stuff she had laid out and looked at the mirror and was happy with the result! Avni walked in after getting ready in the guest room to save time and she looked at Neel and felt lucky that the handsome specimen was all hers. She walked up to him and straightened his tshirt collar and said- you look very dashing Mr.husband! Neel- thank you wifey! But tumhe nahi lagta ki tum mujhe zyada hi spoil Kar rahi ho.Avni- nahi. Ab chalein?Neel - shook his head at how to the point she was. She was still a tubelight, but over the months she had definitely learnt some romance! Accha Chalo but hum ja kaha rahe Hain?Avni- didn't answer, just pulled him by the hand and led him out impatientlyNeel smiled at her excitement. Sometines avni behaved like a child! And he loved that everyday he was seeing new facets of her personality. He cant think of anyone who'd be so excited for someone else's bday. And he was just enjoying all the pampering.Avni was driving and he just sat back and relaxed.They made their way to a hill station and she had booked a tree house for them at a resort!Neel was shocked...his wife came up with interesting ideas! So they climbed up to the tree house and enjoyed tea there. There was a great view of the forest and hills from the spot and it was nice to just soak in the fresh air of the place. They enjoyed the ambience and then headed back on the highway for a super late lunch at a roadside dhaba. After that they headed back home. And while Neel went to freshen up avni quickly set up cushions and quilts in the living room for them to watch a movie. She picked out neels latest fav movie- yeh jawani Hai deewani and got the popcorn ready. Neel was shocked at how quickly she set it all up. They settled down to watch the movie. Once the movie was done, he looked down to see that avni had dozed off! It was not too late only 9pm but then he realized that all the planning must have tired her out. She probably woke up super early in the morning to bake and that was a huge deal for someone like her who was not at all a morning person! He just stared at his beautiful wife and felt grateful to have her in his life. He decided to carry her up to the bedroom but just as he picked her up she woke up with a start. She looked extremely guilty and said...sorry Neil,voh pata nahi kaise aankh lag gayi. I'm sorry. But it's ok, I'm awake now. Dinner order karein?Neel- avni please tum already bahut kuch Kar chuki ho. Plus hum ne aaj bahut kha Liya Hai, so I can't eat any more. I know ki yeh sab arrange karne ke chakkar main tum kaafi thak gayi ho. So lets go to bed.Avni- she gave him a hug and just held onto him. Neel was also perfectly content to just hold her.It had been the best bday ever and the first one with his wifey. He was definitely going to remember this day!
