Most of you must have faced or atleast witnessed such a conversation in your life. Why? Yes ofcourse, because there are lots of engineering colleges and plenty of seats. Its easy to get admission to an engineering college? But let me tell you, its as difficult or more difficult than most of the proffessional courses. You get to know that once you start learning.

'Whats in engineering? Any fool can be an engineer.'

This is a question that I have personally faced in my life. Do you know how heart breaking it is when people mock your years of hardwork just like that? I have seen families attending the graduation ceremony of a doctor happily, but fail to acknowledge engineers. People need to understand that any entrance to any proffessional course is not a cake walk. In fact, we have a subject which most of the student community fear of - Maths! The number of subjects, practicals, projects, assignments, seminars are more than or equal to any other course syllabus. No one will let us pass if we smile at them. Our exams are as hard as yours. We work our ass off like all of you. We also are dedicated to our work.

There are people who mock chartered accountants. Why? Simple. There is a word called 'accountant'. Its as normal as ever. No one really cares that they go through examinations where the pass percentage is as low as 3%. Its mere ignorance. Your perception changes when you get proper information. Same goes with Btech too.

Educate your family about the same. Tell them that being an engineer is not something to be mocked of. Movies and comedy shows already do that for us. We don't need further contributions. If you are passionate about engineering, go for it. If someone mocks you, don't just listen. React!

Tell them that no course is low or high. If you hear some one say 'Any body can be an engineer', challenge them to become one and then speak. Trust me, if they complete their Btech, no one will tag the course as an easy one.

Be Proud of being an Engineer! If we don't, no one will do that for us..
