I scooped Reuben up and headed for the door, my mind full of the things I've read. Petra, why? Was it all true? Whatever you said in your letter? 

I headed out, to find answers from Aiden.

When I got to the school, like Aiden said, and when I got there, I saw his gang. Lukas, (ugh) Maya and Gill. And they were beating up a boy. Actually, Maya and Gill were beating up the guy while the others were arguing. 

  "Aiden, Lukas." I said and they looked up."Well, well. If it isn't Jesse." Aiden drawled and he nodded to Maya, who narrowed er eyes when she saw me. 

  "What are you doing?" I asked and nodded to the guy. "Oh," Aiden laughed and shrugged. "This is what happens when you mess with me, Jesse." he replied and gestured to him. 

  "Aiden. What deal did you make with Petra?" I asked and he grinned. "Oh that." He laughed and waved his hand. "For money, she hung out with you." he said simply and I felt my heart stumble. No.

  "Money?" I replied and he nodded lazily. His hoodie covered his dark hair as he regarded my reaction. Lukas nodded as well and leaned against the wall, as if he wanted to put this conversation out of his mind. 

Petra... was it all a lie?
