She became a babysitter because she loved doing it.
She is very kind, and cares about lives of all people, and she's a pacifist, and couldn't hurt a fly, but she is foul mouthed only around adults, and tries to not curse around children.
She is the younger half sister of Kagome's Mom, Gramps' wife after divorcing Gramps she had Piper, and later moved to America with her new husband, but passed away from a theater shooting in Maryland.
