Neither Reason nor Rhyme

"What color are they?" She whispered as she traced her fingers over his temples and slowly around his eyes. She felt him shiver under her touch.

"I've been told they're black, but I like to think brown. A really dark brown." He stated, his eyes boring into hers.

"It's soft." She said, letting a smile take over her face as her fingers ran through his hair.

"I shampooed today." He laughed.

"You know, I can tell when you're smiling?" She said quietly.

"How?" He asked, his right hand now twirling a strand of her hair around his fingers.

"It's in your voice." She looked down, pushing hair from in front of her face to behind her ear.

He simply laughed, "You're beautiful, did you know that?"

She shook her head, causing the stray strand of hair to fall out in front of her face once again. "I didn't know. I never will."

He tilted her chin up, speaking as he did. "Sight isn't needed to know. The unseen beauty is often the deepest. The unfelt beauty is often the most modest and your beauty is simply the greatest."

"How can something without sight of wonders ever contain beauty?" She retorted.

"Because the wonders unseen are the wonders that burn in jealousy of your value." He responded just as quickly.

"They're not blind."

"They wish they were."

"Blindness has no beauty."

"Blindness has the greatest beauty."

"How so?"

"Beauty is blind. It is unaware of its path; its destruction."

Silence.

"Beautiful without reason; beautiful without rhyme."

Remember this: You can't let your disabilities define you. You can't let them determine your path and tie you down. You've gotta fight it. And that's because YOU'RE the one that's strong enough to fight. YOU'RE the one that doesn't let the words get to you. YOU are the one person that puts the disability to shame.
