(Y/N) has been best friends with Valt Aoi and Shu Kurenai ever since they were kids. It started one day when Valt, Shu and their friend Xander went to kindergarten.

The three of them were playing outside when they saw a girl with (H/C) hair and (E/C) eyes watching them.

"Hi there," said Valt cheerfully. "I'm Valt, and these two are Shu and Xander."

"Hi," said the girl. "I'm (Y/N). "Can I play?"

The three of them nodded eagerly so they all became good friends after that.

(Y/N) stayed good friends with Valt and Shu as they grew up. However, she was completely unaware that Shu was feeling something other than friendship towards her.

"Hey, (Y/N)," called Valt. "I just wanted to ask you if I could borrow your history textbook. I forgot mine at home, and I don't want to get in trouble again."

(Y/N) sighed. "Oh Valt. You and your forgetfulness. I'll get you my textbook."

As (Y/N) was getting her textbook, Shu came up to her. "Hi (Y/N)," he said. "Can I ask you something?"

"Sure Shu," said (Y/N). "What is it?"

"I was wondering if we could go out together tomorrow," said Shu. "We could go to the park and..."

"Oh, I'm sorry," said (Y/N). "I promised Valt that I would help him with his Geography homework tomorrow. But we can go out after that."

"Oh," said Shu.

"Hey, are you jealous?" asked (Y/N).

"No," said Shu. "It's just that... You're always spending time with Valt nowadays. I feel that..."

"Oh Shu," said (Y/N). "I know that it must be upsetting to see me spending so much time with your best friend. But Valt still thinks of you as his best friend. I'm just going to be helping him with his homework. Anyway, I should be getting to class now. See you!"

Shu's POV

I looked sadly at (Y/N) as she went off to class. It's not her I'm jealous of. I'm used to Valt having loads of friends. I'm actually jealous of Valt.

The truth is that I have had a crush on (Y/N) for almost a month. I didn't know that you could have feelings for a friend you have known for years.

But every time I try to confess my feelings, I go tongue-tied. (Y/N) is unlike any other girls I have met.

She's smart and funny and kind. Once when I had a nightmare at a sleepover, I went into the bathroom to cry alone, but (Y/N) noticed and came inside to hug me. She's really sweet.

But nowadays she is always spending time with Valt. I know that it's her choice, but I just can't help feeling more than a little jealous. I was in such a bad mood that I accidentally walked into someone's open locker.

"Oh god I'm so sorry," said Kairi Ogawa. She also was a classmate of mine from kindergarten. "Are you hurt?"

"No," I said. "I just wasn't looking where I was going."

But for some reason Kairi kept looking at me in horror. I was starting to get really annoyed now. "What?" I asked sharply.

"Er... Maybe you should look in the mirror," she said.

Confused, I went to the boys' toilets and looked in the mirror. I gasped when I saw that my nose was bleeding. I guess that I was too angry earlier to feel it.

I didn't have a choice but to go to the nurse's office even though I was already running late for class. I couldn't let anyone see me like this.

Oh, who am I kidding? People kept staring at me as I ran all the way to the nurse's office. My nose was bleeding rapidly and I was starting to get scared. I wasn't sure if it was just my imagination, but I was getting a little light-headed.

Fortunately for me, when the nurse put an ice pack on my nose, the swelling and the blood flow reduced. She asked me if I wanted to go home, but I shook my head. I didn't want to miss school.

However, my head kept bothering me all day and I felt dizzy. I lost my appetite at lunch. I was really thankful when I could go home.

My nose had already stopped bleeding by then but I had a really bad headache. As soon as I arrived home, I just went to bed, too exhausted to do anything else.

(Y/N)'s POV

I didn't understand Shu's odd behaviour today. He seemed unusually bad-tempered and when I tried to offer him a chocolate bar at lunch he refused. I noticed that he seemed a little sick and wondered why didn't he just go home.

I spoke to Valt about it when we met the next day. "Shu was acting so weird yesterday. I just don't understand it. He asked me if I wanted to go out with him, but I said that I couldn't because I was meeting you. I don't believe that I have ever seen him so upset before."

Valt looked at me curiously. "Er... (Y/N), did he seem... Disappointed?" he asked.

"Yeah, a little," I said. "I told him that there was no need to be jealous of me, but..."

For some reason, Valt dissolved into giggles. "What's so funny?" I asked.

"(Y/N), Shu isn't jealous of you," said Valt.

"What?" I asked.

"Well, it isn't my place to say... But Shu's got a crush on you."

"What?" I asked.

"Yeah. He doesn't know that I know, but I have noticed that Shu's always looking at you. And he gets upset every time you turn down an invitation to hang out. He never minds when I tell him that I can't hang out with him."

I couldn't believe how blind I have been. Gosh, I was almost as bad as Adrian Agreste from Miraculous. I had to apologize to Shu.

"Valt, I have to go," I said.

I practically ran all of the way to Shu's apartment. I hope that he wasn't too mad at me. He had hardly said a word to me yesterday after he had asked me out.

Shu was surprised when he saw me. "(Y/N), what are you doing here? I thought that you were with Valt."

"Well, it's a long story but... Wait? Aren't those the clothes you were wearing yesterday?"

At first, Shu looked confused, but then realization dawned on him and he looked down at his outfit.

"Sorry, I kinda crashed yesterday, and when I woke up I was so disoriented that I totally forgot to change."

I couldn't stop giggling seeing Shu look so flustered. "I think that you look adorable."

Shu looked surprised. "Did you just call me adorable?" he asked.

As I went inside, I told Shu, "I have something to tell you. But I need to ask you something first."

"Okay," said Shu uncertainly.

"Do you have a crush on me?"

If Shu was flustered before, now he was as red as his eyes. At first, I thought that he was going to deny it, but then he gave a small nod.

"Yeah," he said.

"Oh Shu, why didn't you tell me?" I asked.

"Because... I thought that you wouldn't like me."

"Oh Shu," I said. "Well, I have a crush on you too, but I didn't realize it until just now."

Shu gasped. "Really?" he asked.

"Yeah," I said. "And the funny thing is that it was Valt who pointed it out. Can't believe he's smarter than me."

Shu started laughing. "Oh well, I..."

I gave him a quick kiss. Shu went red again.

"Oh, well, that was sudden," he said.

"Well, we can take things slow for now, but I would like to be your girlfriend."

Shu gave me a smile. "I would like that very much," he said.
