Set just after Silas joined BC Sol (I don't remember how it happened plz don't go after me-)

-----

"....So you're serious about this, Lui?"

Lui nodded, staring up at the teal eyes of BC Sol's owner, Christina Kuroda. She sat at her desk, holding Lui's application papers with a bewildered look.

"I want to join BC Sol," Lui stated blankly, beginning to get irritated with all the questions.

"But why? Um..." She chose her next words carefully, knowing who she was talking to. "N-no offence, but I thought you genuinely hated us? And Valt? Which is why you pushed so hard to defeat us?"

Lui rolled his eyes. "Yes of course I hate you all!" He snapped. "But...I need a team that's actually excelling in the nationals. I can't hold Rideout on my own, and my teammates are fucking idiots."

Chris blinked. She had no idea how to process this. Lui Shirosagi, of all people, is asking- more like demanding- to join BC Sol. For no other reason than that, he's..bored of his team? Why should she let him in? He's a jackass, she's not gonna sugarcoat it. And she just got a new member, is it really wise to add another one, so quickly?

What if he's planning something? Chris wouldn't put that past him, knowing the kind of person Lui is. Maybe he's just trying to find out the inner workings of his rival team, wanting to break them apart from the inside. ....Ok that's a little far.

What Chris was most worried about though, was how Free would handle this. He and Lui had been rivals forever, and she knew Lui hated Free's guts. Like really hated. Free wasn't big on major change like this. Chris feared they'd be at each other's throats the whole time. She had never even consulted the rest of BC Sol about this.

God, I really hope I'm not gonna regret this... Chris thought.

"Ok, you can join." She said at last.

Surprisingly, relief flooded Lui's gaze. He nodded his thanks. Chris noticed his hair was moving in soft waves and giving off a blue glow. Was that always like that?

"I can uh....Get Trad to help you get settled in. I need to um....Talk to my team."

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN LUI JOINED BC SOL??"

Silas' angry shout could be heard all around the training gym that afternoon. Chris winced.

"I mean he joined the team. He had application papers and all. What was I supposed to do? He was a perfect candidate. From a Professional standpoint, I had to consider my options and decide what was best for our team's success. He's a very powerful blader, and having him here will propel us through the nationals."

Silas snorted in distaste, Rantaro beside him returned the gesture.

"We have Free for that."

Chris nodded, crossing her arms uncomfortably. She was not ready to get into this with Silas right now.

"That's true, but-"

"But what?" Silas interrupted. "What about having the world's number one blader on our team isn't good enough for you?"

Chris inhaled sharply, stung by the green-haired blader's remark. She involuntarily glanced over at said blader, who was sleeping peacefully against the wall. She could hear the amazed whispers from here, mostly from Valt and Kit, about how cool Free was and what an honour battling him must be.

"Free is....He is my top blader, as well as my best friend. I trust him completely, with everything about me. He's the one I turn to when owning a whole blading team gets hard. He's the one I go to for advice about things I never thought I'd need advice for. He's-"

Chris paused, realizing she was ranting. Silas and Rantaro didn't need to know about her closeness with Free. But they do now, She thought bitterly. Me and my big fat mouth.

"My point is, I rely too much on Free. I need someone who can pick up if he falters. Not saying he would, but hypothetically. Lui is that person. He's strong enough that if we lose Free, the hit won't be so hard. We wouldn't fall apart completely."

Silas glared at her, turning and stalking away grumply. Honcho just shook his head and went off to tell Valt and Kit the news.

"....Well that went splendidly." Lui's icy cold voice cut through Chris' thoughts like a dagger. She turned around to face the snarky blader.

"I was hoping they'd handle it better. Ah well, they'll be fine. Everyone knows you so I guess you don't need an introduction. Anyways, this is our training gym. We spend most of the day here."

Lui glanced around the gym, eyeing Valt when he stopped to stare. Chris couldn't tell if that was excitement or disappointment in his eyes.

"My advice, Lui, is to stay away from Free for a little while. I haven't told him about your arrival yet and we don't know how he'll take it."

Lui sniffed. "I wasn't planning on talking to him anyway." he retorted before heading off to train. Alone, it seemed.

This wasn't a bad decision, right? Everything's gonna be just fine. We can do this.
