Okay so as a role player I can not even begin to tell you how many times I have seen the following: don't make you're character a endless sob story and in general a very sad background.

I can get that yes if that character always dwells on it then that can be obnoxious but most people don't do that. They make them strong and conquer their past but adding some stubbornness. Like that's fine.

The background part is what really hits a nerve. Once I read a rule that said, "You cannot be an orphan, you have to have parents." And ya know? Since I was an orphan once this really hit me. Like I honestly felt like I was shot in the heart. Like are you saying orphans aren't real people, cuz I'm pretty sure they actually are!

The moment I read that I was pissed. I still joined but I really almost didn't.

You can't put in your roleplay to not have a devastating backstory. Yes the person can't always be sad but enough with that back ground crap! Because those kind of scenarios ACTUALLY happen to people and people actually do suffer that kind of pain.

When I see this, I'm just beyond upset. What you're saying is, you can't be this kind of person because really people don't exist. In roleplay you can be whoever you want, and don't you dare tell me that people who suffer ARENT REAL FREAKING PEOPLE! Okay?! Okay.

PEOPLE DONT HAVE PARENTS, PEOPLE BARELY HAVE MONEY,
PEOPLE GET BIPOLAR DEPRESSION,
PEOPLE HAVE DISABILITIES,
PEOPLE SUFFER!

So if I see one more, no devastating backstories, I will throw myself out a frickin window. ((Not actually.)) So suck it up and let OC's have crappy back stories because so many actual people do.
