Wally's POV

This was bad. This was really really bad.

Dick has emotions again. Which is actually good. I've been trying to get them back for years!

What's not good is how he got them back. Whenever someone would ask him why he didn't like emotions, pain was on the list. He made it clear that pain was an emotion, and so without them he couldn't feel pain.

But now he's only in pain. He's scared, and crying, and hurt, and probably super confused.

No, this was not good. Not good at all.

"Hey Dick, you gotta stay awake ok?" I whispered to my still shaking best friend. He had calmed down some, at least to where he wasn't sobbing anymore.

"Ok." He said breathlessly. There was a lot of blood. Most coming from his shoulder, the rest from his torso and thighs.

"You must be loving emotions, huh?" I joked. He chuckled. He actually chuckled! I lit up. He got his humor back, and I was the first to make him laugh!

"Is Bruce here yet?" He whimpered quietly again. And then the lighter tone was gone.

I sighed, "It's alright, he'll be here soon. But you gotta stay awake ok?" He nodded stiffly. Oh man what am I supposed to do? Rubbing his back isn't actually helping him.

"The team finally gets to hear your laugh." I smiled kind of sadly, remembering his odd laugh.

"Yeah. . ." Dick said tiredly. I gotta keep him awake, I gotta keep him awake.

"We can all watch movies, and go to the beach. Maybe even go to the carnival again!" I rambled, Dick gave a small smile.

"That'd be cool." His eyes were closing, I shook him slightly to keep him awake.

"Stay awake Dickie-Bird, Batman'll be here soon." I whispered, he hummed in acknowledgement.

As if on cue, the Batmobile came speeding down the road.

Batman jumped out after screeching to a stop. He ran towards me after seeing Dick on my lap. Squatting down to the ground to get a better look at him son.

"Hey Dickie." Bruce smiled, running a hand through Dick's hair. Dick hummed at the warmth of Bruce's hand.

"What happened?" The Bat asked, looking at me.

"Joker got Psimon to give Dick back his emotions. But Joker ended up torturing him, bad." Bruce nodded, understanding why Dick was so . . . messed up right now.

"Think you can run him to the mountain? There's a Zeta-tube not far from here. Black Canary's already in the infirmary ready for whatever, I'll be back there soon." I nodded and lifted Dick up bridal style. He groaned at the movement which jostled his wounds. I mumbled an apology before speeding to the Zeta-tube and into the mountains med bay.

Normal POV - Mountain

"BLACK CANARY!" Wally yelled as he ran to the med-bay and stumbled in.

"Set him down." BC commanded quickly. Wally gently set his friend down on the medical table and backed away so Dinah could work.

But as soon as Robin's back hit the table, he screamed. He curled in on himself and started crying.

Black Canary attempted to calm him down so she could work. "Dick you've gotta calm down. It's alright, it's alright." She moved over to him to try and uncurl him. But as soon as she touched him he screamed and moved away, almost falling off the table.

Wally ran to the other side of the table. The Speedster forcibly uncurled Dick and held down his arms. "Dick calm down! It's just Black Canary!"

"Let me go! Let me go! Let me go! Let me go!" Robin started thrashing around. Whipping his head from side to side, kicking his legs, screaming at them and crying. He was to weak to get out of Wally's grip, but didn't stop squirming around.

Dick started chuckling, but he was still crying and asking them to stop.

"What's wrong with him!?" Black Canary yelled she held down Robin's legs

"He got his emotions back! Joker tortured him as soon as they came!" Wally yelled back. "Can't you
knock him out of something!"

"It's too dangerous! When's Batman coming back?"

"He said–

Wally was cut off by the Med-bay door opening and a panicked looking Batman stepping inside.

"What's wrong with him?" Batman quickly walked over.

"We don't know yet! Try and calm him down!"  Black Canary yelled as Robin's laughter got louder and he started crying harder. Batman kneeled down so he was by Dick's head.

Batman took of his cowl, revealing billionaire Bruce Wayne.

Bruce put his hands in Dick's hair, rubbing his scalp gently. Dick whipped his head towards Bruce, startled by the new hand.

"Hey chum." Bruce smiled at his son, who was full blown panicking. Eyes red, breathing abnormal.

"Hey bud. It's alright, ok? Just Wally, and Aunt Dinah, and me. It's ok, it's all over, no ones gonna hurt you anymore. You just gotta calm down so we can patch you up. Just like after patrol. It's fine, your alright." Bruce said softly, locking eyes with his frightened kid.

However Bruce did it, whether it be running his fingers through Dick's hair or the gentle tone, he managed to calm Dick down. Wally and BC had released Dick's limbs, allowing him to move over to Bruce and hug him.

Bruce held onto him for dear life. It's been four years since Dick actually hugged him, four years. Bruce rubbed gentle circles up and down Dick's back as the boy shook. Quietly shushing him and telling him it was alright.

"Can we fix you up now?" Bruce whispered. Dick didn't let go, but nodded. Reluctantly, Bruce set Dick back down on the table, but kept his hand in his hair.

Black Canary quickly got to work in cleaning and tending to Dick's wounds. All the panicking had done nothing good for the avian. But once she was done, everyone sighed in relief.

"Think we can set up the monitors in his room?" Bruce asked, pulling his cowl back over his face.

"We should be able to." Dinah smiled as she grabbed a wheeling heart monitor and IV drip.

"Wally, the rest of the team is in the debriefing room. Can you explain what happened?" Batman said, looking towards the speedster. Wally smiled and gave a quick salute before running out of the room.

"Ok c'mon Dickie." Bruce grunted quietly as he pulled Dick off the bed. Dick clung to him like a koala.

The small group walked down the halls until they got to Dick's room in the mountain.

"Can I put you down, bud?" Bruce asked. Dick shook his head with a tired 'no'.

"Want me to stay in here?" Bruce smiled. Dick silently nodded.

The Dark Knight climbed into the small bed and gently laid Dick down besides himself. Black Canary inserted the IV into Dicks arm and set up the heart monitor without much fuss.

"You good Bruce?" Black Canary whispered as she was about to leave the room. Bruce nodded and Dinah shut the door behind her.

"Hey Bruce?" Dick tiredly looked up at Batman as he pulled his cowl off again.

"Yeah Dickie?" Bruce smiled down at his son.

Dick looks sad. Not scared or hurt anymore, just . . . sad.

"I don't like them." More tears welled up in his eyes again. "I really really don't like them."

"Emotions?" Bruce sighed, Dick nodded. "Yeah I know chum. But we're all gonna help you get used to them again. Not all emotions are bad, I promise."

Dick nodded and snuggled in closer to Bruce. The Caped Crusader laid an arm around him protectively.

'Not all emotions are bad.' Dick thought. The words forever etched into his head. And Bruce was right. Right now Dick felt warm and safe, and that felt good.

That feeling was good.
